booked the YHA as our normal get away Malham was full. Paid £29 for Friday 25th November for a private room with in suite facilities. Arrived before lunch and parked the car before walking down into the old town. The house is old period and has quirky features but feels modern and spacious. staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout... More

Booked almost last minute because we were trading at Whitby Sci Fi and Comic Con and forgot to book somewhere to stay. Then we found the Youth Hostel. And it is RIGHT BY Whitby Abbey. That was an instant win for us. It only cost £39 for three of us in a four person private room. The hostel is in... More

Five friends and I stayed for 1 night on the 29th. Originally a girls weekend we have a private room for 3 which was £99 and hen we booked out three friends into the Male Dormitories at £35 each. What can I say about the place? The look of the place is amazing, the views stunning, the staff friendly. Inside... More

I first booked this hostel because of the price, just 10 pounds per night. But after two days I have to say it was an amazing experience. Really nice hostel with self catering kitchen, big spacious rooms and really friendly staff. The best thing about the hostel is the location, on top of a hill surrounded by nature and Whitby... it was a grand olde tyme. one of the few hostels to not have complimentary tea(bags) in the kitchen which is odd. also could do with some dort of not for profit transport intot he town. due to the bad pathing back and forth. taxis are too expensive!

Hi.... Great to hear you had a grand day out in Whitby. Your idea of transport is great, yet most of our guests like the short, 10 minute walk into the heart of Whitby. The cost of offering transport would be high and would have to be added onto the accommodation prices, yet we like to be able to offer... More

The mansion that houses the hostel has an enviable history dating back centuries, and the location itself is simply superb. It is a thrilling experience to live in this old mansion. We had an early 1600s fire-place in our private room. The toilet was clean and there was a separate bathroom with a bath and a commode. Views from room... More

First time we have stayed in a YHA and what a lovely surprise! Fantastic historic building, clean and tidy. Good breakfast if you want to eat in and a short walk into the town down the famous 199 steps. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit Whitby and budget their costings or even those who want to visit and be... More

Hi Julie, so glad that you had such a good surprise on your first visit to a YHA. The location is fantastic I must agree, with the Abbey being on our doorstep literally and the top of the 199 steps a stones throw away that lead down into Whitby itself. We hope to see you across our network in the... More

Our first stay in a hostel, I knew what to expect as I had checked other peoples reviews and photos. The room was clean, large, nothing to complain about there. Staff, even though we never spoke much, seemed lovely and were offering help if we needed it. Through the day it was lovely and peaceful although we did notice a... More
