We last stayed here 3 or 4 years ago and the hotel needed a lot of refurbishment doing to it.All the public areas have been improved to a high standard. We had asked for a quiet, high floor room which was on the 3rd floor overlooking the car park. The only noise were the seagulls. All the furnishings were new, comfortable twin beds, good...

I’m sorry to see you were disappointed with aspects of your stay. I have discussed your complaints regarding the food with my chef as I did at the weekend and whilst I appreciate there was an issue, temperature checks were carried out on the replacement meal and in no way could that be described as cold. I wish you luck...

The Royal Hotel Whitby is in a superb location with wonderful views particularly if you pay extra for a sea view. Our room had recently been refurbished to a good standard, it was very clean and also very spacious. Most of the main public rooms are nicely decorated and much of the old very gracious architecture/fittings have been retained. However...

Stayed here last week on a Shearings holiday. Booked a premier room for sole occupancy. Room was very spacious and had amazing views. All areas of hotel clean and tidy. No problems with the food, in fact some of the best I've had at a Shearings hotel. Compliments to the chef ! Our waiter ( think his name was Chris...

Had a two night stay at the Royal nice hotel great location on cliff food good , drinks a bit pricey nice room the only problem we found was the lift only holds 4 people this is poor for the size of the hotel. Town tour bus good value at £4 for 24 hours and stops right outside the hotel.

Thank you for sharing your review on your short break. I’m pleased to see you enjoyed your stay with us. I appreciate that the lift is a little smaller than may be expected but in general it does keep up very well with demand. We hope to welcome you back soon. Vicki Glen General Manager

This is the best hotel in Whitby. Yes, the hotel is dated and in need of significant investment to return it to its former glory days, but considering that it is 2015 this hotel has everything you could need as a base for a trip to Whitby. The rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is perfect and,...

The Bay Royal has pride of place on the hill top overlooking the harbour, with a magnificent view, and in its prime must have been 'The Place' to visit. However the old lady was looking a little bit past its prime. Our room on the top floor (OK it was a basic room) overlooked the rear car park, which was...
