Dave and Emma are two of the nicest and friendliest hosts you could wish for, the rooms are immaculate and the breakfasts are wonderful. This is a place I would highly recommend to stay. We will certainly stay there again when we return to Whitby. Julie & Alan.

We had a great stay at the Melrose Guesthouse. The room we stayed in (room 6) was spacious, light, comfortable and very clean. We could see the sea from our room. The breakfast is excellent, even if you don't want English breakfast: there's plenty of good toast and yoghurt, fruit and cereals. The owners, Emma and David, are very friendly.... More

Could this be the best B&B in Whitby, I don't know as I've not tried them all, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. From the moment you arrive to the time you leave nothing is too much trouble for Emma & Dave. We had a downstairs bedroom that was spacious and very clean, with modern quality... More

Another visit to Melrose. It would be impossible for it to get any better. The place is wonderful. From the very friendly owners - to the decor and cleanliness of every part of the premises - to the excellent breakfast with amazing choice - a place to be proud of and a place to spend a truly relaxing time. Well... More

We have just got back from another excellent stay at Melrose Guest House. This is our fifth year staying there. The past three times have been with the present owners. Emma and Dave. They have two young sons, but this does not stop them from looking after their guests in the best possible way. The rooms are very comfortable and... More

The location of Melrose is ideal for a short walk into the centre, down the hill. On a quiet street away from the hustle and bustle of the centre. Emma was friendly and helpful, catering to individual needs. The bed could do with a memory foam mattress topper, but that might be my preference! Restrictive breakfast time, 8.30-9.30am, as everyone... More

The Melrose guesthouse is one of the nicest places i have stayed. The room was massive and the bed a great size to rest the legs after walking up Whitby's hills. The bathroom was of a good size and spotless the room had everything you would need. Emma and Dave are the perfect host and great cooks as the breakfast.... More

Second time staying at The Melrose. Beautiful property with well decorated, large ensuite rooms and free parking. Lovely, friendly hosts and amazing big breakfasts, cooked to perfection. Great location, couple of minutes walk to the sea front and a short walk to the centre of Whitby. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, definately worth a visit, you wont be disappointed.

They first impressions count and in the case of Melrose Guest House they certainly did. My wife and I were greeted very warmly by our host Emma and shown to our room, which was spotlessly clean, very well decorated and light. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed excellent breakfast on both following mornings. This included a small selection of... More
