Daughter married at Whitby Abbey and we held the reception upstairs at the Middle Earth Tavern. It was PERFECT!!! Just the right size and atmosphere for our small gathering and we couldn't have wished for a more friendly, welcoming and accommodating hosts and staff. They were wonderful on a wonderful day.

Visit this pub everytime we are in Whitby. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Had a good laugh with a few of the locals too. The real fire is lovely when it's a little cold and wet. They have a pool table and a darts board. You get a free bowl of snacks with your first round which is... More

We enjoy calling into this pub when in whitby... it is a little 5min walk out of town but worth a visit... It has been refurbished in the last couple of years and modernised... It still has seats outside (where it is lovely to sit in the sun) or inside, and offers real ales plus a variety of other drinks...... More

Often visit this recently renovated landmark Whitby Pub. I like it for the good selection of quality Real Ales and the friendly banter with the bar staff. Friendly locals. You definitely don't get that 'American Werewolf in London' feeling when you walk in for the first time.

I visited this pub with a large group of friends, I rang in advance to pre-order drinks, the staff were fantastic, our drinks were ready, and chilled, the staff were so welcoming. I was on crutches and the landlady could see I was struggling, she drove to her sisters and borrowed a wheelchair for me. Talk about going the extra... More

A great night at the Middle Earth last night, great live music and such a great atmosphere with everybody joining in. Great alcohol and a great place to be! The best pub during Whitby folk week! Highly recommend and we shall be done again tonight!

A decent open plan bar with a good selection of beers. Popular with locals and biker lads and lasses that all added to the mix lending a good atmosphere to the place. Not a great deal of seating downstairs but additional room upstairs with a cracking view over the harbour. Staff friendly and efficient and the place is dog friendly... More

We went here during Folk week. Even though busy, we were made very welcome. Refurbishment of the property is good. There were people upstairs playing instruments and singing. All were invited to join in. Well worth a visit.
