This is our hotel review page. If you would like to review the restaurant please visit The Georgian Townhouse Restaurant. Many thanks :) It's about far more than a coat of paint... At The Georgian Townhouse - or TGT as we like to call it - we've created a little hidden city oasis where you come to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Combine 'Georgian' - yet funky modern - interior design with an enormous walled garden, loads of locally sourced quality produce, exciting and evolving seasonal menus, a collection of heritage cooking methods, some stylish and versatile function rooms, an interesting mix of craft beers, wines and spirits, and you begin to envisage TGT: seamlessly merging Georgian charm with a modern offbeat attitude, lashings of style, an abundance of personality. This is a corner where everything is just right. Rooms now open - See you soon!

The Stable is one of the apartments located opposite the hotel itself. It’s part of ‘The Coach House’ and adjoined to one of the other apartments, The Nook. When you walk in, to the left hand side there is a seating area with two chairs and a table, and a TV on the wall. To the right there is a kitchenette complete with dishwasher, oven, kettle, toaster, fridge and Nespresso machine. There is also a small dining area. Unfortunately there is no microwave and not much storage, so when you bring your own food you’ll wonder where to put it. Also bring your own tea towels as none are provided. There was also no teaspoons and just one fork! Compared to the upstairs, the downstairs storage is generous. Upstairs, there is a super king bed (appears to be two single beds joined together) but no wardrobe and no drawers to put your clothes in. Very impractical. There are 6 hooks, 3 either side of the bed. There is also another TV on the wall. There are 2 sky windows (that open) with no blinds so you may be woken up to bright light at 6am like we were. We had to drape our clothes over the landing area to store our clothes which is a shame. Two fans were provided as the apartment isn’t air conditioned and no windows open downstairs. By far the worst part of this apartment is the bath/shower situation. There is one plastic bath with a shower attached but you have to hold onto the shower head as you shower as there is no stand! The person that designed this apartment has lovely taste but no sense in practicalities. On the positive sign it is very clean and in Covid times this is very important. It was also very quiet and was situated in a great location. There is a large convenience store a 5 minute walk away from the apartments and the walk into town is pleasant. Would consider staying here again - but not in this apartment.

We stayed in one of the apartments for our wedding and were delighted by the service. When Callum found out it was for our delayed wedding, the Townhouse decorated our table and provided cake and flowers for our meal after the ceremony. This really made the day feel special after all the changes and compromises, and was greatly appreciated. The staff during the meal were attentive and friendly for both dinner and breakfast, and the apartment was clean, had a good atmosphere, and had a large amount of space for us to prepare before the ceremony. We had one of the best stays with some of the best service we have been fortunate to experience.

Lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly and polite. Food is good. Callum the manager couldn’t have been more accommodating to ensure our stay was a memorable one. The hotel is situated close to the town centre. Which makes it convenient to walk to. But it still has the feeling of a remote hotel, without the town revellers and traffic. Thank you

This hotel was a disappointment and extremely overpriced for the room we had looking over the terrace no privacy (noisy extractor fan outside window) bathroom not cleaned properly. They claim good choice of vegan and veggie meals (not true).

Seems like a lovely place, but serious issues. Room had a hole in the wall, stains around bathroom fittings, and half the radiator had fallen off. Staff in the evening seemed overworked and were dismissive and rude at times, as if the simplest inquiry was a great hassle. That said, the breakfast and reception staff were helpful, especially in accomodating food allergies. With some changes, could be a great place to stay, but for now, distinctly underwhelming.
