This hotel either met or exceeded our expectations. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed and pillows were super comfy. All staff were polite and courteous at all times and there was always someone available on the reception desk. The Covid-19 restrictions were very well managed, with hand sanitiser and signage throughout the hotel and restaurant areas. The car park was reasonably priced at £6 for 24 hours. The integrated restaurant The Nelson seemed a little understaffed at times, but the staff that were working were very friendly and attentive. Extensive food and drink choices, and again, the Covid-19 restrictions were very well managed with table service only and a one-way system in place. Particular mentions for Sam and Ben who looked after us very well during our weeks stay. We will definitely stay here again.

Hotel's Favourite
We live in the city centre but due to having a new floor laid decided to stay here for a Fri and Sat night. Great welcome and lovely comfy family room. My 2.5 Yr old was having the time of her life as she thought she was on holiday (not much to compare it to this year unfortunately).. We booked full breakfast both mornings and even though we intended to go out for dinner.. both nights we ended up in the restaurant downstairs. Great service.. All the ladies and gents who looked after us, were superb. A big thankyou you made things very enjoyable. The food was good no complaints and the atmosphere was really lovely. Times are very tough in the hospitality industry at present so we definitely appreciated all your hard work.

Went for a family trip to Norwich We needed to wait over any hour for the room to be ready past check in The restaurant said “there is never no Communication with the hotel” so the hotel was booking more people in to the restaurant then they could have basically over booked My party needed to wait until past 8pm to have dinner so my disabled children needed to have dinner somewhere else as they have tablets to take and my ADHD children needs his routine The food was cold and just wasn’t nice we needed to wait any hour for starters the room it’s self Both rooms smelt funny Shower didn’t stop running Very small When my daughter woke up the next day she noticed her 2nd sheet had blood everywhere (not from her) so we said to house keeping and her reply was “oh yeah all our sheets are like that as we don’t have clean ones” My daughter is disabled and has very bad OCD so she couldn’t sleep in that bed the 2nd night Nobody really wanted to help us The TV didn’t work it kept saying no Signal A guest thought it would be funny to knock on people’s doors and run Overall just don’t good And not much help from stuff

Concerned to find mildew and fungus in open show to the guests. Hotel was understaffed the rooms were not as requested. Car park full of contracts working on site. Used this hotel twice before its has gone down hill since the last trip. Presumable that's why there is refurb works ongoing. But fungus in play view of guests cannot be right.

Good location, in the city centre with easy access to the railway station, bars and restaurants. Ample parking (£6 per night). Friendly staff, especially George in the bar who was very attentive. The hotel is a little tired in appearance and the outdoor areas let it down. The garden area is overgrown and unusable, which is a shame because the hotel sits alongside the river. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
