I was lucky enough to be taken here for my birthday. The hotel is lovely, great rooms and staff are very friendly. Very good location for lots of nice restaurants and for city centre. Highly recommended.

We stayed at 38 St Giles for 2 nights on a Thursday and Friday. When we arrived we were greeted by Holly who showed us to our room the Gurney suite. Beautiful room and very spacious. It had a separate seating area with a large leather sofa. This included a kettle and a very nice coffee machine. Each afternoon they...

After reading all the reviews I decided to book 38 St. Giles for a weekend trip with my 12 year old son centered on a NCFC football match. We've been to Norwich many times, but this was our first time at 38 St. Giles. We are used to staying in more traditional hotels, but there really wasn't a difference. The...

This is the most cozy and relaxing b&b I had the pleasure to stay in! I absolutely love the authenticity of the building combined with all the luxury. The beds are so comfortable! The internet is fast and the shower nice and hot with good water pressure! Last but not least, the breakfast is absolutely amazing! Perfect cooked eggs, tasty...

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Norwich. My husband had a business meeting the following day and I was going to do some shopping. The room was very comfortable with everything we required and more, including two delicious chocolate brownies provided with the tea and coffee in the room. The bed was very comfortable and the shower room...

This is the most welcoming and relaxing b&b and a real pleasure to stay in. I can't rate it highly enough. The breakfasts are outstanding, beautifully cooked and prepared to order. The cakes left in the room are a lovely touch. And the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I've never slept so well in a hotel before, it is in...

Amazing boutique B & B in a great location in Norwich. We chose the 2 bedroom apartment set slightly away from the main building as we were a party of 5. This proved a great choice for a family celebration. Lovely rooms and fresh cakes on arrival. Complementary water, milk and coffee. Fully stocked kitchen. Breakfast the next day was...

On arrival the lovely receptionist came out to help me find the dedicated parking space I had booked. Once you know where it is it's really very simple and a very short walk to the accommodation, but tired and in the dark I needed help! Once inside, I was shown to my room which was super and had some freshly...

Lovely boutique hotel, perfectly situated in the center of town. Lots of little quirks that do nothing but add to the character of grade 2 listed Georgian building. Tea and cake on arrival tasted great! Breakfast in the morning tasted good and was presented beautifully. Supplied gluten free bread and dairy free butter on request. Would love to stay again...

Great place to stay in central Norwich. We stayed in the colman room. Lovely comfortable bed, plenty of room, nice bathroom. Really could not wish for more. Breakfast was delicious and good quality. Will definitely go back again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
38 St Giles is a grand house with a long and interesting history. It was built in 1700 for the Gurney family and became home to the former Lord Mayor of Norwich. Its neatly tucked-away entrance just off St Giles Street creates an intimacy and privacy that is unrivalled. We are the most centrally located boutique accommodation in Norwich, a stone's throw from the largest outdoor covered marketplace in the UK and adjacent to 'the lanes' - one of the oldest parts of this fine city and an area of national repute boasting well over 200 independent retailers of fashion, food and just about anything else that you might wish to buy. Inside the main entrance we have a grand staircase from which most of the bedrooms are accessed. From our wonderful double rooms to our two large suites you will be surrounded in comfort and a sense of history. We have chosen an eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary pieces of furniture & artefacts, sumptuous throws, cushions and rugs. Our bathrooms feature oversized walk-in showers and rain shower heads, several rooms also have baths. White, fluffy towels and a range of quality toiletries help ensure that your morning ablutions are a positive experience! In selecting our bedding we have chosen simply embroidered 400 thread count white Egyptian cotton (not easy to iron but wonderful next to the skin) with goose down and feather pillows and duvets. Homemade cakes are served on arrival with a choice of teas or our specially blended and locally roasted coffee. We bake our own bread, make our own preserves and source all of our ingredients from the best local suppliers. No corners are cut in attempting to provide you with a relaxing, comfortable and memorable stay. We are happy to cater for small wedding parties, birthdays, anniversaries and other group bookings. We can even create a special meal with fine wines and champagne on arrival for that extra special treat. ... more   less
