Arrived at the hotel early, on a Saturday morning, but our room was ready , great as it was only 10.30am, the stunning foyer and bar were beautiful to look at and comfortable to relax in, although could have done with turning up the lighting a little, bit dark for during the day. lt was a great location, if you...

I was lucky to get a good weekend price for a double room overlooking Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column! It was a combined shopping, party and theatre weekend so I did not have to walk far. The room was big, clean. A bit cold (think green policy) at first but warmer after turning up the heating... though the fan was...

Brought my wife to London for romantic weekend. Checked in to the hotel on Friday evening, small hatch served as reception, we were told to use the automatic check in terminals dotted around the lobby. They were fast but very impersonal, would have enjoyed some interaction with staff (where to go? how to get there? etc.). The bar looked superb,...

We stayed here on new years eve. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. Unfortunately the room was like a furnace. It was not possible to turn down the heating as it was centrally controlled and we could not open the window because of the noise of the air conditioning unit. It was still noisy even with...

There are lots of positives with this hotel but also some negatives that would stop me from staying there again. We arrived and saw a sign for upgrades available for 15 pounds per night which we decided to go for. We got Room 316 for our upgrade. While the room was clean, the windows were very deceiving. Once you look...

I chose this hotel from its reviews on tripadvisor and expedia. We were not disappointed! Our double room was on the second floor with a view of trafalgar square. Room was clean, had internet service, minibar, private bath and cable tv. A few steps aways were several cheap eats and a minimart to pick up snacks and stuff. Plan on...

Stayed here for 2 nights in early January 2010 in the cheapest room. No breakfast. Very good location, professional and helpful staff, nice room and good size. Bathroom was very cold. Bathroomfloor is freezing. I had to leave the door open to the bedroom so bathroom got warmer. Free internet and fast speed. Nice lobby. Bed was good. Check out...

The location and the value can't be beat. stayed over new year and stand with another quarter million people watching fireworks walking distance from the hotel. Several pret a manger close by open for breakfast, so we don't even try the breakfast buffet which is somewhat pricey. Clean and neat room - three of us in the room, one with...

We stayed at the Grand for four nights, including New Year's Eve. The location for the fireworks alone makes staying here incredible. The authoriites close Northumberland Road to anyone other than those who are actually staying nearby and it's like having your own, uncrowded, secure and unobstructed view of the fireworks from the Embankment. The location near Trafalgar Square is...

I booked through an online discount site, and was happy to have a 4-star hotel for the price I got. It doesn't feel like a four star hotel though. I got to my room jet lagged and thirsty. there's no fridge in the room so I went to get ice. The bag in the ice bucket had been used as...

Staying in Westminster

Neighbourhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
