South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.

The apartments were in an ideal location for us. Close to major museums. Close to the tube to get to the West End and close to good shopping around Sloane Square. The apartment was spacious and had good clean facilities including a good kitchen area.

Location: really convenient if taking the Piccadilly line from either King's Cross/St Pancras or Heathrow. Only hitch is the 20 steps from train platform to elevator - if you are toting more than 2 bags, it may be difficult to use the tube. Otherwise, the location is brilliant!

Is it true that there are stairs everywhere!?
The main entrance has three or four steps up and there are lots of stairs inside, some of which offer very cool Escheresque vistas. However, most rooms are accessible by elevator, if you don't want to take the scenic route.

Do the windows in the rooms open?
Hi. I believe they do but not sure how far. We were there once in a heatwave and in case the internal conditioning was insufficient the fabulous staff put a portable aircon in the room with the exhaust tube out through the window. It's a great place.

Do the windows in the rooms open?
Sorry I don’t know. I visited in February so there was no need for us to have them open. For fire regulations they should do though.
