My best friend and I arrived to celebrate a benchmark Birthday and were impressed by the location (just off Oxford Street, nearest Tube Station Marble Arch) and the lobby looked nice. When we checked in, we were told where our basement room was, which had seen better days but was clean. I asked if they had any other twin bedded...

We booked expecting it would be a 4-star experience ... it was not. To be fair, it was not dirty and the young man at the desk nicely let us use the phone to locate other lodgings, but it definitely was not 4-star as promised. The photos show the lobby, not the rooms. We were on the top floor in...

What can I say ... If you are thinking that by the name of this hotel or the pictures shown that you're in for a treat ... Then be prepared to be disappointed! No welcoming foyer, lobby or hall. No relaxation room or lounge. Not even a bar ... In fact nothing more than a serving hatch at the top...

Read other reviews after I had already booked, so was a little nervous but absolutely no need. The building is in a great location and is a beautiful old building. The staff were very helpful to both myself and my daughter, nothing too much trouble. We were in room 6 on the 3rd floor, very nice twin room, clean and...

I've stayed in London for 10 days. The hotel is the worst one! They offer nothing, and every thing is old. No recommend! At night, you can hear people talk and the car passing ( because my room is on road side, and the widow wouldn't fasten) I can't sleep well:(

As readers of my other reviews might have noted, when it comes to London I tend to opt for four or five star hotels. But recently (June, 2013) I had to book somewhere at short notice and my 'usual's' were full - or charging exorbitant rates I refused to pay. So I booked through booking.com and the self rated 4*...

The hotel is placed 10min walking from Baker Street station, or 15min with bus from Victoria (bus stop just outside the hotel). So it is easy to get access to the hotel, even with suitcases. The hotel is a small hotel with 14 rooms. I got room number 1, which means 78(!) stair steps until I reached the room. So...

I too booked with Expedia with the "secret hotels" (my first time using them instead of Hotwire). I won't do that again. We stayed in an upstairs room,(I had recently had knee surgery, and the steep stairs were a real problem. Staff were nice. Breakfast not included. Rooms very cramped. Bathtub very hard to get in and out off (even...

Our experience can be echoed by other reviewers. Courteous staff member showed no surprise when we said that we would not be spending a second night there! This must be a regular occurrence! The health and safety of the place needs attention on several fronts, I would say. We were on a high floor and there was no lift. We...

We also booked via the Expedia 'Secret Hotel' deal and I felt very foolish when I read the very critical reviews and appreciated I did not have an opt out. I suspect Expedia have some disappointed and disenchanted clients, especially when initial descriptions are for 'breakfast included' but booking confirmation is for accommodation only. My very limited expectations were however...

Staying in Marylebone

Neighbourhood Profile
Marylebone
Marylebone offers what so many London neighbourhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
