After the hype the experience was average bordering upon poor. The kitchen extraction/ventilation was going all night. From 06.30am the smell of Bacon being cooked filled the bedroom. The bedroom was small with everything "free" in there meaning two bottles of water and a tiny bottle of milk. The free Hox nosh breakfast consisted of a banana a yoghurt with...

I used to live in the East end so the Hoxton is perfectly located for me. The room are ok size for doubles, very clean and the staff was very helpful. One down point was the noise so make sure you get a room away from the main street. I recommend staying for food in the evening then cross the...

Stayed here for almost a week, and have to say, not a lot to complain about at all! The rooms are on the small side, but I think you just come to expect that in London really. Besides the size, they were very comfortable, clean and quite quiet. The bar and restaurant downstairs was certainly in full swing most nights,...

It was the second time we stayed here. The first time (in 2007) we already loved the Hoxton. The staff is great, the rooms are big enough and clean. The small breakfast is fine for a short stay (but you might want something different when you stay for more then 2 nights), the restaurant and the bar are a big...

Stayed here several times before but this hotel really keeps on delivering. Arrived at reception to a big smile and a "Welcome back" and with the news that in the time since I'd booked, the room rates had gone down, so I was due a £50 refund. How many hotels would do that? If you're in London, I'd definitely recommend...

I have stayed at lots of hotels at a variety of price points and this is the best. It gets almost everyhting right and it is clear a huge amount of thought has gone into the hotel's design and it's operation. The only very small issue (and this is splitting hairs) is that the service in the Grill is not...

Staying in Shoreditch

Neighbourhood Profile
Shoreditch
The western front of the edgy East End, Shoreditch is a perennially trendy haven for anything “street” – be it art, food, or fashion. With its handful of well connected transportation links dotting its perimeter, along with an ever increasing variety of shops, hotels, bars, and restaurants, it's easy to explore this trend-conscious and youth-oriented neighbourhood. There's a lingering post-industrial grit about Shoreditch, but because it shares a border with “The City” financial district, the influence from its upscale neighbour can result in fascinating outcomes.
