Hotel room was nice, albeit small and basic, but we were happy with it. Lobby is welcoming. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Location is great, right near Aldgate East station and only a (reasonably) short walk to St. Pauls Cathedral, shopping centres, Spitalfields markets and (if you don't mind a bit of walking) the Tate Modern. Hotel is good... More

The hotel is in a rather dodgy area and it's not pleasant to be walking round there at night, there was a rather unpleasant smell of urine outside the hotel and along the main road! However the hotel is very close to the Aldgate East & Aldgate tube. Also Liverpool Street was only a short walk away. The hotel reception... More

These are our hopefully constructive comments on our 2 night stay at this Ibis Hotel. Road noise and all night ambulance sirens as Royal London hospital is just down the road. Hot food at Breakfast was cold both mornings, no microwave in eating area although staff when requested would heat up your plate of food promptly. Organisation of replenishment of... More

With Ibis you can usually be assured of a reliable standard of service and accommodation. As a budget hotel it offers good value for money. The loyalty program is rewarding for more than 2 stays per year. London City is situated in an interesting part of London with good transport connections and a useful convenience store close by. Breakfasts are... More

This hotel was very clean with very helpful staff. The rooms were roomy for London but on one night of stay the air conditioning did not work and the mattress was very hard. Our second nights stay was perfect. My wife had left her earrings in the room and we went back 2 days later and they had been kept... More

The Ibis chain are simple, basic hotels from the Accor chain. usually I stay in the Mercure or Novotel but unfortunately they were full for a short notice business trip. Check in was quick and painless and I was able to pay and get the Invoice up front which was meant a quick getaway the following morning. This Ibis is... More

Staying in Whitechapel

Neighbourhood Profile
Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.
