Bed a little hard for my liking room temperature was good air con if needed and window that opened as well nice shower
Staff were very helpful even printing me off something I had forgotten
Will definitely be staying here again if going to 02
There is parking on site (which was one of the reasons we choose this hotel) You have to book in advance to get the cheaper rate. A good budget stay with everything you need.
But I have worked in IHG for the last 15 years & this hotel has not charming at all, nothing to do with what the company strive for.
It's a shame the location, great if you need to go to the O2 but it's located in between two main roads,so you have car noise,at all times.
Very cold check in by Sue,with no member recognition till the end of the process.
The room was very clean, spot on,however was stone cold even with AC/Heating(very old device) on maximum temperature.
It's winter and the rooms should be much warmer or change the windows frames, which are...very old.
Upon check out, they asked me why I didn't request an electric heater.
How do I know if nobody explain me that upon check in(maybe also put a blanket per room?)
Kudos to breakfast and the concept of breakfast for any HI Express worldwide is like that.
Whoever is complaining about it is because is comparing with other IHG Hotels and that's not fair.
It's a basic breakfast so don't expect a full buffet for the price paid.
Helpful staff cleaning tables and the buffet was clean & well presented.
Overall,I would not stay again as previously mentioned,as member,I did not feel in a IHG property.
Room for improvement.
Was out every morning at 10am
Arrived back at hotel 11.30pm
My room was on floor 6, great view.
Room was always cleaned fine
Breakfast was a Holiday Inn buffet, no frills
I recognise Jorge who was a great character as night shift manager, always a friendly welcome on the bar and he served our party always with a smile on his face.
Thanks Jorge.... until next time...
Room was set up for 2, even though it was booked for 3. I called reception to request towels, cups etc shortly after getting into the room and was was told to collect from reception. As we were heading out, I tried collect at 9.30 the following morning and was told someone would deliver to the room. I called reception at 11am & again at 12.30 as we hadn't received anything. They were brought to the room after the 2nd chasing phonecall.
I was able to get soya milk, veggie sausages & Weetabix at breakfast the 1st morning, no yogurt available though. There were no veggie sausages or Weetabix available the 2nd morning.
When the sofa bed was opened, there was an approximate 10cm gap between the end of the sofa bed & the wall. At night, if one of us got up to visit the bathroom, everyone was woken up by the noise. Is this kind of obstruction not a fire risk? I'm fortunate that my child is older, but for parents with younger children in bed early, this would be an impossible room to say in, we had the option of closing the sofa bed before bedtime, so we could move round the room.
The shower temperature etc was fine, but the hose was filthy and was taped in the middle where it had split. The room was generally clean, though the tea tray and spoons were grubby.
The location was good, an appropriate 15 minute walk from the tube station, it was roughly 25 minute journey to Green Park.
The tv in my room did not work very well, i constantly had no signal and my room keys stopped working so we had to go to reception for them to do it again.
Beware if you are driving as the fee is £14 for 24 hours.
Overall, its a very basic hotel but the staff are nice and its okay for a little getaway.
Location
Comfortable bed
Good room for the price
Hot and cold selection for breakfast was included
On site parking, but 20GBP per day.
Most of the staff were helpful.
Negatives were:
Man on reception when checking in, was very curt and gave the impression I was a great inconvenience to him.
The windows are old at let a lot of traffic noise in. It is a noisy location.
The air-conditioning is also noisy, but it cools well and you can switch it off.
Shower head does not adjust in angle meaning to get wet you need to lean against the wall.
The Chinese restaurant on the ground floor has promise, but service was patchy.
Absolutely disgusting hotel. We arrived directly in the middle of a huge argument between guests where one male was threatening to kill another with a Gun he had on his possession (Great start when visiting with 2 young children). I am aware this is not fault to the hotel but the situation was ignored by hotel staff and no effort to resolve or offer relief to any other guests was put in place.
I was then charged an extra £20 on arrival because I arrived with the children which I had included when booking the hotel.
Room was ok at first glance and distance from 02 was great.
When getting into bed I was shocked to find my bedding was blood stained!
We then waited over a hour in a freezing cold room for new sheets to be brought to the door and left with us to change ourselves.
Breakfast was disgusting! There was no where near enough room to accommodate everyone in the hotel and options were very limited and under stocked.
After waiting for 20 minutes (no food options or plates) I finally managed to make myself a sausage bap to find the bread was moldy.
We went back to the food serving area once the ques died down to make a coffee and noticed hundreds of flies all over the ceiling and walls.
I have complained and been faced with denial and bad customer service. Currently in the process of taking this complaint further.
We settled in our room and approx 3.00pm we started to get dressed for the evening, however there was no hot water in the shower. I called reception who attended our room and confirmed the water was cold, I also mentioned that the room fan heater wasn’t getting hot, the staff member advised us to wait 30 minutes for the electric fan heater to warm up !
After 30 minutes I contacted the reception and was advised there was no hot water throughout the hotel, they had call out maintenance engineers to fix the hot water. The reception explained that the hot water should be fixed sometime that evening. I mentioned that we had a theatre book but they said they couldn’t do anything.
At 5.00pm I personally went to the reception and spoke to a young male receptionist I believe his name was Advir. He explained the hot water system was still getting repaired, I asked if there was anything he could do because we had paid £150 for the room and we needed to shower. One would expect the basic essentials of a hotel is to have hot running water to shower. Advir was polite but said he could only offer a free drink at the bar and couldn’t off any reduction on the room rate price. This is the first time in the last few years that we have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express IHG hotel. I was extremely disappointed, the hotel needs to look after their customers. Throughout our stay the room heating didn’t get very warm and the reception offered us an electric floor heater. Pretty poor experience overall.
