Stayed here for vacation. Excellent location: , walking distance to National Museum. Steps to Russell Square tube station. Russell Square Park. Beautiful building, well appointed with modern amenities and very comfortable beds. Quiet area after dark. Limited food options in-house. WiFi is excellent.
From the very beginning the hotel was perfect, a large (average cost for London)car park was opposite. Checking in was easy, the receptionist was very polite. The reception/bar was lovely, original fireplace and stove made it look great. The room was clean and everything we needed. The hotel itself was well situated for us. Very good hotel which we will definitely stay in again.
Stayed 4 nights with relative (2 rooms, each single occupation of twin room.) OK clean but no vacuuming, emptying of wastebaskets or clean/replacement cups or glasses. Staff merely is trained to slightly rinse the cups, glasses in the bathroom sink & wipe with a previously used cloth. Pretty awful, considering the bragging about all COVID precautions have been followed. Had to ask several persons for extra towels. Housekeeper stated one person had not shown up for work.... does that mean that there are only two housekeepers? Room was not cleaned on a daily basis. Breakfast is scanty, flat rate 10 pounds but only toast or muffin and cold cereal, with coffee or tea. (no refills) Made by an electric automat style server (powdered coffee) for espresso, cappochino, black, or white. One beleaguered person at the "desk" by the bar to answer questions, check guests in/out. Pleasant persons but really busy at the important times for the size of the hotel. Cannot even give this 3 1/2 stars, the rating is wrong, wrong. Yes, it has an elevator, a bar, but nothing else to say service. Bathroom cosmetics do not warrant making The Morton Hotel a 4 Star property. Not stair-free entry or any wheelchair ramp from street.…
Booked the room after seeing good reviews. The room was definitely clean with air-conditioning, room was spacious, staff were friendly. It was great until the sink was choked. Despite calling the reception and they confirm that they will assist, no one came by after few hours of wait. And, therefore we have checked out with the basin remaining choked. Sleep quality was ok, but the mattress was thin where you can feel the spring. Location is definitely good, walking distance to some attractions and very near to tube station. What really surprised me was that the items in the first aid kit was way expired.
Rarely have I written a negative review. I chose this hotel for a 5-night stay based solely on so many positive reviews. The location, just steps from Russell Square park and underground station, is fantastic. The hotel decor, stylish. Our room was modern yet cozy with a huge, comfy bed and great air con, although closet space is limited for two people who planned to unpack. But none of this makes up for the fact that, in 5 days, we only saw the housekeeper ONCE, after I tracked her down to ask for fresh towels. We reported this every day to the staff at the front desk who, finally, admitted the one housekeeper on duty finishes at 3:30pm and, in that time, must focus solely on rooms which are turning over. They fully admitted that they knew each day that our room had not been serviced--yet, rather than proactively acknowledging this with even so much as a note--let-alone an offer of compensation, they chose to do nothing and hope we would understand that they were understaffed. Every day, the person at the front desk noted our concerns and assured us they would advise the manager. Going on three weeks, and we have yet to hear from him.…
My wife booked the Morton Hotel for a five-night stay to allow us to enjoy the Jubilee celebrations and our 25th wedding anniversary. We chose this hotel based on excellent reviews. We were therefore surprised after returning to our room on the second day to find that no service was provided for the room (bed not made, etc.). We identified this to reception, and it was addressed. The same absence of in-room service occurred every day afterwards, and it was evident that there was a critical staff shortage. This was confirmed with reservation staff on the fourth day, with the admission that the single cleaning staff could only focus on the turnover of rooms. In fairness, the hotel is very nice, and the room and bed were comfortable and quiet. We also know that unexpected staffing shortages can occur. The issue to us, is that there was no effort by management or staff to inform guests, or to proactively offer any compensation for what was undeniably a sub-par level of service at a quality hotel. After not seeing the manager during our stay, I emailed Mr Smith on our departure on 6 June to express our dissatisfaction, but never received a response.…
My stay in this hotel has been fabulous, I was very impressed with my room, modern and clean with everything needed for a 3 day stay. The staff are very friendly especially Jovan on reception who was very efficient when I needed some assistance. Also the manager Tony who I met while I was having a drink in the very nice hotel bar. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting London, worth every penny.
Loved this small, boutique hotel with the intellectual photos on the walls, clean and newly renovated rooms - all so tasteful - even the shampoos were wonderful and smelled so good! Felt hygienic, clean - luxurious without being pompous. The perfect hotel for me. :-) And a great location, too! Many thanks for a lovely stay!
The room and bathroom were quite big by London standards. Wifi was excellent, worth mentioning. The reception is located with the bar downstairs which is a bit strange when you first arrive. The location of the property in itself is very good. But there were some problems worth mentioning; no breakfast available said the receptionist because of a shortage of food.....daily housekeeping is not daily.......and one of my beauty products disappeared.....annoying. When I contacted the reception during daytime there was no manager available just the receptionist who couldn’t resolve the problem. Overall this hotel was disappointing.
Nice boutique hotel with friendly staff. Rooms clean and well maintained. Bathroom large with amenities. Hair dryer in room. Only downside is no breakfast without prebooking. (There is a good breakfast place down the road called Crazy Salad).
