We went to the Courthouse for a cinema evening. We saw a really good film - but the experience was let down a bit by the fact that the cinema screen is not tall enough to see the complete picture. Several scenes in the movie were in another language and the subtitles didn’t fit on the screen, oops! The bar area is pretty special with some old jail cells converted into booths. Watch out at the bar though - service charges for drinks bought at the bar were being added to people’s bills without us being told. I don’t know if it was a scam but it didn’t feel right.

My partner and I arrived an hour early and they allowed us to check in one hour earlier. The receptionist was very attentive, clear, and polite.

We got to the room and it all looked one. The furnishings and the bed, bathroom, etc. were spotless. However, the plug in fan (which I think my have been a temporary fixture was caked in dust (maybe it came from a storage room).

The hotel had lots of amenities, however we didn't use any. The hotel had a pool, a spa, restaurants, and bars.

The TV in the room (208) was odd. Instead of a fully functioning sky remote is was specific for a hotel.
Additionally, the remote was fully working and we could change channel. We used the screen mirroring function instead from my phone.

The room had: shoe shine mitt, slippers, two types of glasses, hand towels and two shower towels.

The air con was very bad. The temperature didn't fall past 22. (We had the temperature on 5'C all the time and the windows open from start to end.

Luggage holding on check out until our train time.

Overall, it isn't 5*. If travelodge is 3*, then this is four. Its quiet basic. But, the amenities, the location, and the style make this a good hotel! Nice stay, but I probably wouldn't go back next time.

This hotel has a great location if you are interested in seeing any theatre. You will be smack in the middle of everything. It is a boutique hotel with a wide assortment of rooms each is a little different from the next. This can be great if you get a large room with a mini bar. Or you could end up with a single bed in the attic. I was with a group of 5 other people in London on business and some of us had mini bars with refrigerators some of us did not. Some of us had great beds some of us did not. Some of us had clean bathrooms some of us did not. I really enjoyed my room although there was no mini bar.

The hotel has no restaurant but the breakfast was a good way to start your day. The bar is small but quite unique with jail cells from the old courthouse.

The price is extremely high and I would not pay this much for a hotel if I wasn't there on business.

If you have the funds and want to see theatre it's a pretty cool spot to stay.

I know that the hotel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic but there is no excuse for things like this. There is shabby chic and there is shabby and this place falls well into the second category. We booked one night as we were going to the Palladium next door and I also have a connection with the old court so was looking forward to a trip down memory lane.
It was 5 minutes before anyone appeared at reception to check us in and we were given a room on the 5th floor which was clean and tidy but could have been in any £29 per night business hotel. The bed was comfy but the pillows were far too soft even Premier Inn give you a choice of pillows. The room was stiflingly hot when we arrived and even having the aircon set to 5 degrees for 7 hours failed to reduce the temperature by more than a couple of degrees.
It was a good job we had booked to eat elsewhere as all the restaurants and bars in the hotel were shut and other than the tap in the bathroom there was nowhere to get anything to drink, a couple of complimentary bottles of water in the empty fridge might have been good.
We got the impression there were only about 6 guests in the hotel of which we were two of them and we were the only 2 at breakfast so why was it not possible to cook breakfast to order? Most of the food was luke warm at best and the bacon looked like it had been cooked yesterday and kept warm under the hot lamps. At least the sausages were piping hot (fortunately)
How this is classed as a 5 star hotel I have no idea I have stayed in better 3 star hotels in Mallorca. All we got was equivalent to an average Premier Inn for 10 times the price

Avoid the Courthouse Hotel and your stay in London will certainly be enhanced. Enter from the street onto a dirty mat in a bleak corridor, turn right to be greeted by unsmiling and uninterested reception staff. Check in but expect interruption whilst the receptionist takes phone calls. Head for your room, leaving the lift into corridors with filthy carpets. Enter your smelly room to experience torn, dirty carpets, a sofa with stains (don’t ask) and a cramped route to the bathroom. Step over the stains on the dirty bathroom floor (dread to think) to the loo. Call reception to request that the blocked loo (clearly contributing to the smell) is unblocked. Open the windows to air the room, whilst taking in the most depressing of views. Go out, go back, sleep. Wake up to cold water. Don’t take a shower because of the rotten bath panels and mouldy shower surround - and cold water. Avoid the stains – again. Enter the homeless shelter for breakfast to be greeted by scruffy, untrained, unhelpful and unhappy staff. Wait for one of the available but previously used tables to be cleared and made ready. Select from limited options, certainly avoid the raw sausages that have sat there for who knows how long? Order a poached egg if you really want to confuse them. Don’t bother with the spa you’ve been looking forward to for fear that the experience matches the dirtiness of everything so far – see 2.9/10 score on Hotels.com. Go to check out and try to explain your disappointment to an uninterested receptionist who may eventually go and find the 12 year old, so called ‘manager’ who forgot to put his socks on that morning. Speaking to him will get you nowhere so take him to see your room. This won’t get you anywhere either. Leave now as life is too short and there are better times just outside and away from this place. You may receive a standard email (including mistakes) that offers you discount or similar for you next stay. WHAT NEXT STAY?!

This hotel is listed on booking.com as a 5 star hotel, this could not be farther from the truth. It barely rates as 3 star accommodation. The carpets and furniture are dirty and stained, beds were dirty with loads of human hair and blood spots, actual clots not stains. The shower plumbing was also broken.

While the location is deep in the guts of shopping, that is about the only positive aspect. The words FAKE FANCY are probably the best way to describe this place, from the worn out furniture to the fake Asian antiques to the abominable training of the staff. I've literally stayed at roadside motels that were better maintained and managed. The abrasive attitude of the manager belies the top down decay of this tourist trap. Do yourself a favor and skip this place, London has so many better hotels at much better prices.

Stayed here for a couple of days as part of a Valentine treat for my wife. We had tickets for Phantom of the Opera and a Lunch Thames Cruise so picked this hotel due to its location. Booked a king room with a bath which was a great choice. The staff, especially the concierge was incredibly helpful, pushing me in my wheelchair to the disabled exit and back, arranging taxis etc. He has helped make this weekend a very special occasion. The room was very large and includes the biggest king size bed I have ever seen. We both had a great nights sleep. The TV was big too and had Sky Sports and Movies.Plenty of hot water for the bath and plenty of towels. A well stocked minibar. If I come back to stay near Theatreland in future, I would not hesitate to book this hotel again. Easily 5 stars all round.

The staff were so very friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to speak with us to ensure we were ok.

We were able to check in about 3 hours earlier than the stated time which was great meaning we didn’t have to leave our luggage with reception.

The hotel was very quiet, not many guests which suited us fine. We didn’t use any of their facilities so can’t comment on them.

Overall, very clean and tidy.

The bed in the king superior room was AMAZING! So comfortable and HUGE!!!

This hotel has Sky TV with plenty of channels so you’re not restricted to BBC News or plain Freeview channels.

Shower and bath had great water pressure and was refreshing and a pleasure especially when coupled with Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries.

The location is spot on - right in the heart of the West End - this is what you’re paying for.

It was my birthday and they kindly gifted us chocolate cake and wine in our room.

I would stay here again.

Absolutely disgraceful! Booked a Deluxe Queen room costing £299. On checking in we were given our key and told where to go, no help with bags to room. We were absolutely gobsmacked when we saw the room, IKEA type wardrobe not attached to the wall so wobbled all over the place and could have been a danger! Toilet seat hanging off and a strange metal pole from ceiling to floor by the bath. Loads of electrical wires in one socket with a phone sat on top of a metal safe on the floor. Stayed in better premier inn for a fraction of the price. Went down stairs to complain, staff not particularly bothered and said we can offer a different room which was better, still not worth the money. We wanted to leave with a refund and go somewhere else but was told they wouldn’t refund due to cancellation policy so offered champagne in the room and breakfast, although we told them we had breakfast included. We decided to stay as it was starting to spoil our planned evening out. The hall way smelt of damp carpets and there was a hole in the ceiling in the lobby with a bucket catching the drips.
Woke up to a workman drilling outside our window on scaffolding .
The breakfast was awful, cold undercooked bacon, slimy scrambled eggs. Told the waiter some of the terrines were empty and was told we’re very busy ! No gluten free bread either. Would not stay here again
Shame as this could be a really nice hotel with its quirky features and history.

Unfortunately our stay at the Courthouse was rather disappointing. The hotel’s communal areas are beautiful however the rooms are dark, rundown and unclean. The carpet in the room was old and stained and the bed linen was covered in black marks. The robes provided were also very old and tatty. The two ladies at reception were extremely rude and standoffish, whispering to one another and barely even looking at us when we checked in. One of them was sat there blatantly messaging a friend on WhatsApp - highly unprofessional. We were given no information about the hotel whatsoever upon check-in, just given our key and sent off to our room. The hotel is in a great location within easy reach of Shoreditch however the staff and rooms really let it down. I would not return nor would I recommend. We paid £300 for our room and would likely have received better service at a budget hotel.

There is one review in December2018 which refers to mice .Has anyone anything to say about that
Answer from pattiesplum

Did not see any mice myself someone posted a photograph of a mouse in their room. This is NOT a 5 star hotel at all and the breakfast is awful. Can I recommend the Cavendish on Jermyn Street, often cheaper, cleaner and excellent breakfast. I would not recommend the Courthouse although it is not quite as bad as some reviews make out. Location is its main saving grace.

Hello Tiffany, This will depend on the size and how many suitcases you want to leave behind. As you can imagine there is limited space for luggage storage

2) There is a swimming pool. However, it is only open between 10 and 17, so not much use if you want to use it before the start of your day or when you return from a day in the city. However, I would definately recommend you to choose for another hotel. While the rooms are nice, the service is very bad at this hotel.
