I know that the hotel industry has been hit hard by the pandemic but there is no excuse for things like this. There is shabby chic and there is shabby and this place falls well into the second category. We booked one night as we were going to the Palladium next door and I also have a connection with the old court so was looking forward to a trip down memory lane. It was 5 minutes before anyone appeared at reception to check us in and we were given a room on the 5th floor which was clean and tidy but could have been in any £29 per night business hotel. The bed was comfy but the pillows were far too soft even Premier Inn give you a choice of pillows. The room was stiflingly hot when we arrived and even having the aircon set to 5 degrees for 7 hours failed to reduce the temperature by more than a couple of degrees. It was a good job we had booked to eat elsewhere as all the restaurants and bars in the hotel were shut and other than the tap in the bathroom there was nowhere to get anything to drink, a couple of complimentary bottles of water in the empty fridge might have been good. We got the impression there were only about 6 guests in the hotel of which we were two of them and we were the only 2 at breakfast so why was it not possible to cook breakfast to order? Most of the food was luke warm at best and the bacon looked like it had been cooked yesterday and kept warm under the hot lamps. At least the sausages were piping hot (fortunately) How this is classed as a 5 star hotel I have no idea I have stayed in better 3 star hotels in Mallorca. All we got was equivalent to an average Premier Inn for 10 times the price

I stayed here at the weekend with my daughter for her birthday and what can I say. The staff were amazing to her. Made us both feel like royalty. The room was lovely with a HUGE bed and even sky in the room. The location is a 2 minute walk from Oxford circus tube station. We will 100% be returning. Thank you so much for our fantastic night.

Distinctly average hotel for the money. The hotel felt unloved, very few guests and staff despite being in the heart of the west end. Bedrooms were decorated in drab 1990s business hotel style and the air conditioning does not work in any bedroom (according to reception). I wouldn’t make an effort to stay here again. There must be many more hotels in the area that are better value and actually feel alive.

Stayed here overnight and also had afternoon tea. We traveled from York and our friends met us from Dover for afternoon tea. The service was shocking, didn't give us a choice of sandwiches, we had to just sit there for twenty minutes and it was put on the table with no explanation of anything. I asked if we could have some more coronation chicken sandwiches but no we couldn't. We explained that I was the only person that ate fish, so that's all I had so the others could eat the non-fish ones. She said we should have said that before they served it - we never got the choice, this is when she gave us the menu - too late??? We had to chase for our coffee (nearly finished the afternoon tea by now) and she said, we're going to sort that soon. Whilst drinking the said coffee she whisked the stand away without asking us, and there were cakes still on there - we were going to eat them but by this point all we wanted to do was leave the place. They were extremely rude!! My daughter and I were staying overnight and I have to say the reception chap was really helpful and so was the concierge. Our room was fine, not 5*, couple of items broken in the bathroom, toilet paper was so thin and the air-con wouldn't work! They had no staff so was like 'faulty towers', I waited 15-mins in the bar for two drinks one wine and one vodka cranberry juice and she charged me £21.94! What the actual!!!!! In the morning over breakfast, you are not told what is what but just to sit down. He came and took our order but was rude and unhappy. All the staff seemed unhappy and run around as there is no staff, the same lady helped at breakfast that was in the bar the night before. And when we needed our keys sorting after breakfast I stood in reception and after ten minutes called reception from my mobile. Still no one, another ten minutes the poor girl came running in, the same one as earlier. Summary, poor service and attitude in the restaurant serving afternoon tea (on the worst seats ever - you can't move as apparently "they're the tables for afternoon tea"!!), no staff, rooms ok but need some repair. And everything done on a budget and don't even think at breakfast they'll bother to refill anything that has run out. Will I ever go back - not in a million years!!! My daughter said 'Premier Inn' is better than this, at least you know what you are getting!!

Using a voucher (Christmas present from my brother), we visited this hotel for afternoon tea and it was dreadful. The room they use for this is grubby and in need of a full refurb. The furniture is an ad hoc mix of trash that looks like it was sourced from several skips and much of the upholstery was stained and dirty. It actually felt as though by sitting down we were at risk of staining our clothes. The layout of the afternoon tea, when it arrived, was not visually attractive and no explanation was offered as to the content of the sandwiches or cakes. We weren’t going to be offered a choice of tea, but a choice was available when we queried this as the waitress began to walk away. As for the meal itself, the tea was very good and the sandwiches tasted fresh, albeit uninspiring. Edible is about the best I can say. The scones were poor and under baked. Worst of all however, we’re the cakes. Very poor quality with cheap ingredients. No one checked with us to see whether everything was OK and we were pleased and relieved to walk out, with half of the food untouched. This is not a place I would visit again under any circumstances.
