Just lovely! Very relaxing, very good service and very stylish and funky, shame we had to come home! Our stay cost £120 which included breakfast, lovely selection and lovely coffee, all staff were very helpful and cheery, bar is open 24hrs and they have an outside inside smoking area, so nice not to stand on the pavement outside the front...

Modern, stylish, contemporary and innovative. We loved our stay at citizenM. Located superbly for all the South Bank attractions and easy access across the river. The lobby is a fun place for meals and drinks, there was a wonderful atmosphere Friday night. Self service check in/out was accurate, fast and efficient; staff nearby helpful and friendly. The bedroom/bathroom were clean,...

When we are not staying somewhere 'fancy' we usually opt for a perfunctory Travel Inn / Premier lodge etc as when you are not gonna be in the hotel an awful lot you just want a comfy bed, clean room and a good shower. And there are all manor of budget hotel chains that easily provide these at a reasonable...

hello 'Bob412' Wow, thanks for the brilliant review. It is so pleasing to hear you were so impressed. we share you opinion in that we are hardly budget. The citizenM sweet dream first came to our heads when we realised there was no hotel offering the luxuries today's modern travellers seek for a more affordable price. Quickly it came apparent...

They did a great job to create really nice hotel rooms with a limited space. The children loved it! We loved it too, but it is good for a couple of nights, not for 3 or more. We got a little bit claustrophobic because we could not open the window, nor we had much space. We had to be creative...

Lets start with the positives. The hotel is new, clean and in a fairly central location. The rooms are reasonably priced and the rooms overlooking the courtyard are quiet. However, is it necessary to be bombarded with messages about how cool and funky everything is? I can usually tell these things for myself. It would be a good idea to...

Very easy reservations and check-in. Easy to find from the train station - even dragging bags and having never been to London. Everyone was very friendly and the food was really good. I never heard another person while I was in my room - total silence. The blackout curtains and lights were incredible for dealing with any kind of jet...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
