CitizenM is a great place to stay. We absolutely loved the overall design of the hotel. The bar, the lobby, the rooms... It's just a wonderful place to stay when visiting London. It's a short walk to the Underground, but that was no problem at all. On the way to the hotel, you walk by Borough Market which is such... More

This is my third stay in CitizenM London and my fourth overall (I have stayed in CitizenM Glasgow too!). I love the concept, the value for money and the consistency. Citizen M know what they are doing and they do it very well! My 5 year old daughter loves it here....which is all because of the tablet in the room.... More

We were on a business trip and needed a location on the South Bank. CitizenM is such a fresh departure from the standard no-frills model. What a cool hotel! At arrival one checks in at self-help touch-screen stations that reminds one of the self-check-in kiosks at airports. Not that this means that there is no human touch - on first... More

If you've seen other citizenM hotels and like the concept (self check-in, shower integrated in the room, chain slogans everywhere) you will like this one too. In fact I find it one of the better ones. Hotel is located very well at the south bank. Convenient for Waterloo station and all city destinations in easy reach. Good dining and night... More

I use Citizen M regularly for business, but this was a social family break to the "Big Smoke". As soon as we walk in, we were welcomed and put in a truly relaxing mood. All the touches I love about Citizen M were put to great use, brilliant coffee, great curry, stunning range of wine, luxury bed, cracking shower, funny... More

I had previously stayed in the citizenM chain in Amsterdam so was familiar with their concept and I'm a fan. However the social areas in bankside are superior. Popular spot and full of life. Plenty of space and a nice relaxed atmosphere. Rooms aren't huge but I'm not after space. However the beds are quite big and super comfy. Everything... More

I've already stayed twice in CitizenM London Bankside and cannot wait to visit again. The decoration, the tablet used to "control" the room, the bar and the extremely helpful staff are major draws. Its location is very convenient for a visit to Tate Modern and the Globe Theatre. Ask for a room on the outside, as the inside rooms with... More

This is the third summer we have stayed at citizenM London Bankside. The location is great. The staff very kind and helpful. The rooms are extremely clean. The buffet breakfast is consistently excellent. And there's a nice bar in the hotel lobby for later in the day, and also a reasonably priced light meal available on the buffet. We would... More

The CitizenM is a great concept for a short stay. Inside the room, it feels a little like a cruise ship bedroom with a gigantic bed. The bed is very comfortable, and while the room is incredibly small it is very well laid out. One nice feature is that along one wall there are 2 Euro electric outlets, then an... More

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
