This is cheap by Knightsbridge standards. The staff are extremely friendly. If you book this just be aware that there is no wi-fi or tv in the rooms. Breakfast has to be the most miserly I have ever experienced. It is only served between 8 and 9 and consist of tea or coffee and toast. That's it. No cereal. No...

My wife and I booked a room at the Merlyn Court Hotel on VERY SHORT notice and they could not have been nicer about it, we wanted a private bath and even though we were early for check in they got us taken care of right away so we could settle in with no wait. Lucy and the rest of...

Great location only a few minutes walk from tube station . Super friendly staff. Clean room. Only slight niggle is the mattress was way too soft for me. Other than that excellent for the price in this area. Would stay again for sure.

I have just stayed at the Merlyn Court Hotel this week after a couple of years since my previous visit. The welcome from the owner, Luciana, was just as warm and the service, excellent as ever. The double room (room 7) with en suite bathroom was well appointed, nicely decorated and had good storage space. Both the bedroom and bathroom...

I'll start with the negative aspects: -they claim to have Internet, but they don't. Well, they supposedly have wi-fi within 1 meter around the reception, so they don't. -they charge you an extra 5% if you pay by credit card and this is not mentionned anywhere. you find out only after registration and you cannot cancel. Apart from that, it...

Wonderful economical place to stay. Very central to metro line Earlscourt. Typical victorian b&b no frills so that is why it is a 2 star No elevator or tv some rooms shared bathroom. Anyway the hostess Lucy is a wealth of kindness and knowledge. Place is a great deal so if you are good with all that go for it.

I was in London for two nights solo. Clean room, great location to the tube, friendly staff. I found the pillow in the room to be rather flat so I asked for another and it was brought up immediately. The bed was comfortable. Also I needed to borrow a hair dryer and one was provided quickly. No frills here but it...

Travelling solo and visiting my old patch in London for a funeral and other social activities, (Stayed 3 nights.) Needed to keep things cheap and Merlyn Court suited beautifully. (Chose to have a shared bathroom.) Yes the building is a bit jaded but my room was clean and comfortable, as was the shared bathroom in which the shower was great....

Great little find. Clean, neat, tidy, safe and secure. Close to many great attractions, eateries, services in London, either by Tube or walking. Taxi and bus also close. A great place to stay and venture into London during the day, or night. Friendly service. Free Wifi is great. Hard to find a better price for what is on offer here.

Situated in the heart of a neighborhood, this hotel is an old house that has been renovated into smaller chambers. Not all rooms have their own private bath, so make sure you inquire when making reservations. Hotel is one block from a Tube and bus stop. There are many eateries within walking distance. The area is so quiet you can...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
