The staff at the Montana Excel were really friendly and helpful and the room was ideal for a short weekend break in London. We'll definitely be staying there again.

Got to the hotel, very surly receptionist booked us in.Told we were on 2nd floor and there was no lift - we had a large case so I had to ask for it to be kept in storage. Room - well , I am sure a prison cell is better than that, we had asked for a double bed -... More

We booked this hotel for 1 night, the man in the reception appeared to be quite moody and the checking in was very speedy. We were given the key to our room and there was somebody reparing the carpet on the stairs, there was some drilling as well. Our room was on the 2nd floor and there were sheets across... More

Location was perfect. Staff was nice and friendly. NO bedbugs, so big plus for that. Plenty of tea and coffeebags in the room. Breakfast was ok. They also have adapters for appliances in the reception. My room was in the basement, and therefore a bit cold. The small window (that you could not see throug) was drafty, and located above... The Montana Excel is located very close to Kings Cross/St Pancras station(s). Basically cross the road outside Kings Cross and walk about 200 yards up Argyle Street - couldn't ahve been easier. The hotel faces onto a lovely green space (Argyle Square). My room was at the top of the hotel and was a pretty small double, but it perfectly... More

Good value for money. We stayed in a family room, the bathroom was very spacious. We stayed for a long weekend and found it perfectly adequate. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice. Beds were uncomfortable though, unfortunately, but we weren't staying long enough for that to be an issue. Good location too, very short walk from Kings Cross... More

I stayed at the Montana in Dec 2008 and was appalled. I'm a Londoner but at the time didn't have my flat in London, was living overseas and was passing through London and needed somewhere for one night in central London. I was ashamed that the hotel was in my home town. The receptionist made Russian intourist hotels look friendly... More

We booked this hotel because of its proximity to Kings Cross and it worked out perfect. We arrived at 9.30 AM and went straight to the hotel to drop off our bags before heading off. They seemed apologetic because our room wasn't ready - we didn't expect it to be! The staff were lovely and friendly, the family room was... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
