I'm not sure at which point we mutually decided that this was the best place where we had bed and breakfasted in London. Was it the warm and friendly reception? The instant offer of drinks on arrival? The supremely effective black-out blinds (essential for a night-time photophobe such as myself)? The delicious - and extensive - breakfast? The proper understanding...

Me and my girlfriend stayed at The Lilac Door for a week in February. Booking was very easy via email and already then we knew that Jane would be a wonderful host; we received quick responses to our emails and for example a detailed description on how to reach the Lilac Door. On our arrival (early morning on Monday), Jane...

In March we spent a week in London for a family wedding. The best decision we made was to stay at The Lilac Door in Dulwich in fact it was one of the major highlights of our 4 week holiday. Jane was so very welcoming and the house was brilliant, it was clean, spacious and very homely. The rooms were...

My wife and I stayed at the Lilac Door while visiting our grandchildren in Dulwich. Jane is a wonderful hostess; our room at the top of the house was very comfortable and well equipped. And the breakfasts are superb and plentiful - you can skip lunch! A great bolt hole in South London.

I have stayed a couple of times at The Lilac Door. I initially chose it because of the excellent location with trains straight in to central London plus the charms of Dulwich Village are a fairly short stroll away. What I got in return was real bang for the buck with a clean, comfortable and stylish bedroom. On my first...

We enjoyed a 3 night stay here whilst visiting our daughter. The whole experience was delightful starting with Jane's genuinely warm welcome plus tea and muffins! The room which was at the top of the house was spotless and well appointed including an en suite with a very roomy shower. The bed (king) was very comfortable and we slept well...

Visiting our daughter in East Dulwich and couldn't find a hotel nearby, didn't fancy airbnb but so pleased we found The Lillac Door. Stayed 3 nights and nothing was too much for Jane who even drove us round the area so we could get our bearings. The house is great and our room absolutely perfect. The breakfast also fab. Totally...

Breakfast was relaxed, plentiful and served in the front room which was bright as it faced on to the street. Parking was...

My husband and I stayed with Jane at The Lilac Door in August at the end of our honeymoon. I looked long and hard for nice, reasonable accommodations in London - a near impossibility! That is, until we found this gorgeous retreat in West Dulwich. The B&B is, admittedly, not in the city center - but that's perfect for anyone...

While visiting family in London my fiance and I stayed one night at the Lilac Door, and could not have had a better time! Jane is a darling hostess: warm, cheerful, and delightfully helpful. She was insistent we relax and make ourselves at home, and wow did we ever! My fiance proposed to me at the Lilac Door, right before...
