Decent hotel, nice location, but let down by traffic noise (if you are at the front) and lack of airconditioning. Watching the Japanese get stung for extra charges at breakfast because they didn't read the fineprint on the sign that explained the continental vs english breakfast options (which were laid out on the table without any clear separation) was painful.

I have just checked out of here. I normally stay at the Tavistock when on business in London but I left it too late this time to book and they were full. This place, from the same group, is a little more expensive but worth it. I had a quiet (for London) room, as requested, at the back of the...

Great little place that I have been using for years as a London bolt hole. The rooms are small but always clean & tidy. For Central London it is good @£93 for single & £110 for double. No negotiation is possible, take it or leave it seems to be their motto. The staff are always helpful and friendly. A few...

We had four twin rooms here last weekend. The hotel is in a great location, near to Russell Square tube station and lots of bars and restaurants. Easy to walk to many places. We had asked for rooms at the back of the hotel as reviewers had said the road can be noisy at night and am pleased to say...

We usually stay here on our London trips, and have seen it change, for the better over the years. The standard has been the same for a few years now, which is good, but some things seem to be slipping a bit. Tablecloths at breakfast were stained, Tea and coffee were some strange tasting brown fluid. and the toast was...

My Mum and I stayed for one night for a theatre break. The location is good, the room very basic, (very small bathroom and toilet is separate to this) and the room was extremely hot! The problem with opening the window is it is very noisy outside. There were police sirens going off all night! The room was clean and...

Stayed here on business. Asked for a quiet one so got one overlooking the very sweet garden. My only suggestion would be double glazing as even at the back, us light sleepers can wake up with early morning noise. Highly recommended though and walkable to Covent Garden, Euston etc.

Stayed for 2 nights for theatre trip. Room very nice, separate toilet and bathroom which was nice. Room clean and comfortable beds. Good selection on the breakfast buffet. Room key a little odd - proper key on a long stick (felt like Harry Potter with my wand) so you can't take the key out with you. Hotel is in a...

I was down in London for a day at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in Red Lion Square. This place was found online, and had availability in the first week of Wimbledon, all for under £100, so snapped it up. The location was fantastic for me, brief 15 mins walk from Euston, and 4 mins from the college. It is...

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
At the Bedford Hotel, peace and quiet is our priority. With the elegant bustle of Bloomsbury on every side, that might sound like an impossible task. Covent Garden and the West End are just a short walk away, and the British Museum is on our doorstep. But at the Bedford, we can promise you a good night's sleep too. How do we do it? Well, many of the rooms overlook our picturesque private garden. The Bedford is small and intimate, offering a warm welcome with a personal touch. And it's a great place to relax with company too, with a charming guest lounge and laid back café occupying the ground floor. Meanwhile, the Bedford Garden restaurant serves home-made British specialities, with a modern twist, overlooking our secret garden. We're able to offer a little corner of traditional English tranquility, here, in a bustling, international city. It's made us a firm favourite with returning guests. ... more   less
