Stayed at the Tavistok hotel for 5 nights. There were 12 of us I would not recommend this hotel. First impressions terrible. Staff at the front desk are ignorant need some customer service training. The rooms are the worst I have ever stayed in. Beds squeaked felt damp and cold Windows filthy Smallest tv I have seen in a hotel... More

I've stayed at the Tavistock before and have written two other reviews but would like to add this one. It's a great location - Russell Square - and the room is quite large for a single. There's a comfortable armchair rather than a stool to sit on, the beds are comfortable and even though the radiator was off, the heating... More

The hotel location is 5 min walk to Euston and 5 mins walk to Russell Sq. underground too. Very pleasant and attentive reception and porter desk personnel, dining room were less so. Hotel is clean and tidy. Rooms are bog-standard. We were lucky and had a room with a view over Tavistock Square which was nice. There was enough wardrobe... More

The hotel on arrival looked nice and clean but there was a very strong smell of curry. Reception staff was very nice and helpful. Our room on the 6th floor was very warm and we had the window open all day and night. There was no way we could turn the radiator down. The beds were very comfortable with mattress... More

It's hard to give a fair review to budget hotels in London, because the standard is lower than you would expect were you to pay the same rates elsewhere in the UK. On the plus side, the Tavistock is central, situated in a lovely art deco building that overlooks Tavistock Square Gardens and is scrupulously clean. There is very little... More

They also offer possibility to make tea and coffee in room. The heating was good however I kept the window open all the time to keep the room temperature nice. The breakfast is same since... More

Picked this hotel for its location near to Euston Station and also around the corner from nearest tube station, Russell Square. We had a twin room with own bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet. No hot water from the sink when we first arrived, in fact the tap was very loose, but reported this on our way out... I needed a hotel for a business trip with an overnight stay on Saturday at short notice. Usually, I'd stay in a budget chain like Travelodge or Premier Inn, often for around £30-40 per night but perhaps up to £60-70. Whilst I expected London to be dearer, I wasn't expecting those chains to be charging £195! I was recommended the... More

The Tavistock continues to provide value for money. It is fairly basic, but it is clean and comfortable. Breakfast not particularly outstanding but what do you want for your money? It is in a good location, staff have always been helpful and approachable. On our last visit the first room we were given had a definite odour of tobacco and... More

Staying in Bloomsbury

Neighbourhood Profile
Bloomsbury
Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.
