For the price the hotel was very good. I was happy with my stay and will book again.

This hotel is rather good value for money. We lived in a new/modernized part of the hotel, nice quite and clean room, good location in West London close to shopping, museums etc. Internet in the lobby/breakfast area.

On arrival the receptionist (who i believe could be the managers daughter) was rude and spoke to us like children, she was the one with the language barrier not us! We were not shown to our room (which was in the basement). We had to drag our suitcases down a horror movie starcase or squish into the tiniest lift in...

Good price & location (close to tube, shopping street (High Street Kensington), wi-fi in the room for free BUT very small room, and this smell of never renovated walls and bathroom. Quite noisy if the window is from the road side. Not amasing, but for two nights is too much (1 night you can manage - close everywhere).

The hotel is well located and cleaned but it is very outdated. For the price we paid for that room there would have been much better alternatives in the area.

I didn't stay here out of choice, it was booked for me by my boss. To be honest after reading the reviews on here I was pretty nervous about my stay at the Oliver and I was right to be. The manager was friendly when I arrived but the phone rang when I was checking in and he was very...

The location of the hotel is very good, so close to the centre and museums. I stayed in a double bedroom, which was very, very small, I could barely turn around. The bed was also small, there is no chance that 2 average people can sleep normaly. The room had view on the street, that is quite nice, but you...

We recently stayed at the Hotel Oliver for 5 nights. Most members of our group did not get a single warm shower over the 5 nights, but the hotel refused to provide us any compensation for this. The free wifi internet was very spotty. The rooms & bathrooms are very small (even by London standards) and have an old, musty...

Negative aspects about the hotel: - Towels: grey, washed-out and with black lints, hairs and pubes - Other textiles (carpet, bedspread, chair covering): littered with indefinable stains, too dirty to put your cloth on or to walk shoeless in your room - Maid: Always put the clean towels on the bottom of the hotel corridor befor bringing them into your...

Met our requirements of a clean, economical and well located hotel. Room was basic but clean; good location - close to tube station, bus to oxford circus stops right in front of hotel, eating places nearby; basic breakfast on expected lines; free wifi in breakfast room but slightly unreliable; relatively quiet location though one might hear traffic noise at night...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
