The hotel is well located at pedestrian distance to Borrow Market,Tower Bridge, Tate Modern, with many dinner options around. Clean rooms, good basic breakfast and excellent service. Rooms a bit too small but comfortable.

Stayed two nights room 304.Clean and tidy but compact.Nice rain shower, double bed in need of a new mattress and pillows. We had problems with the air con,you just could not adjust it below 22 degrees, so room was uncomfortably hot and maintenance could do nothing to help. The bar area is very pleasant plenty of seating and big screen TV...

Mercure Hotel, was lovely. Breakfast was one of the best that I've had all over the world. Loved the choice of porridge flavours and choice in Milk. Was very easy to prepare etc. Gym was good, small but fit for purpose. Room was a great size, especially for London.

Cross the street and you're near Tate Modern and Millenium Bridge leading to Saint Paul's. The hotel offers good meals at interesting prices but we had to eat at the bar because the restaurant was closed. Breakfast is excellent and there are alternatives nearby if you're travelling low budget. Staff is multi lingual and very friendly. I definitely recommend this...

We booked the Mercure London Bridge as our Base for a lunch with friends and then a trip to the theatre. It was a comfortable 10 minute walk from Waterloo station with a very friendly greeting upon arrival. Unfortunately one of our rooms wasn't ready so we dumped all luggage in the other and picked up the second key upon...

We stayed overnight for a trip to the National Theatre. It's pretty well located for this and other attractions on the South Bank. It's about a five minute walk from Southwark tube, and a fraction over that from Borough. The hotel is stylishly designed; the rooms are comfortable and quiet. A rubbish view (definitely compared with the Tower hotel not...

This was a good hotel to explore London from for a few days. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and quiet except for the fire alarm going off at 11:30 PM one night. It's about a 5 minute walk to the Southwark metro and less than 10 minutes to the Millennium bridge. Recommend.

Easy to find on Southwark Street. Stayed for 2 nights. Very welcoming and efficient staff. Room clean, maid tidied room while I was out. Tea and coffee in room. Ideal location for Borough Market, I visited Tower Bridge, St Katherine's Marina, half an hour walk to Tower of London. 30 minutes walk to Imperial War Museum which was well worth...

Staying in Southwark

Neighbourhood Profile
Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.
