Cannot fault the location. Everything else - pretty poor. This is an old hotel with old facilities. The appearance from the outside is quite daunting. Rooms facing the railway so relatively noisy. The solution is (old, ineffective) double glazing. This results in an inability to open the windows under any circumstance. Room stuffy and dusty. Wi-Fi didn't work. TV resets...

I stayed at the Copthorne Tara on business for London Book Fair, only for a couple of nights in March. The hotel is very well located, in Kensington and two minutes walk from the tube. On arrival the hotel was very busy with groups of other people arriving or departing. The check-in desk was a little slow due to the...

The room was ok, a bit dated decor, although the TV was fairly modern. The hotel wireless was the worst EVER! Over the course of three days I only succeeded in making a Skype call once. I literally tried hundreds of times to log on from my PC, i-pad, and a few times from my Smart phone. Most of the...

After a mistake with our booking we were upgraded to a suite.. Yeah! But it was very dated indeed.. Nothing special. Great staff on the reception but hit and miss elsewhere. Breakfast was an utter nightmare. Cocktails in the bar were very boring too.. Not the best place we have stayed Good location though

For the location this hotel is great. I found the rooms slightly small. However, due to a mix up the staff upgraded us. The security room we had had fabulous views of London. The location is near great restaurants, bars and shops. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly staff.

Once again we stayed at the Tara Copthorne prior to attending a concert in the Royal Albert Hall and I can honestly say, we were not disappointed. Despite it being almost a year since our last visit, we were made to feel very welcome from the outset. The rooms are warm and comfortable, the shower and bathroom clean and well...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
