Interesting quirky hotel but tired in places - room decor needs a revamp. Stained walls. Marked carpet (even though it looked fairly new). Chipped paint on furniture. Room layout also a bit bizarre as the room we had was actually quite small really - very limited storage space (I’ve had more storage option in a Travelodge). The air con worked well though and the turndown service a welcome touch, with fresh water delivered to the room (we also asked for fresh milk that was kindly delivered in a jug and we kept in the fridge). Shower decent enough but it was over a bath which itself was very narrow and quite a high step over to get into it. Friendly staff. We had room service one evening and the food reasonably priced (fish goujons and fries) to be fair. Excellently located for Hyde Park and Royal Albert Hall plus the big London museums. Short walk further to some retail, Ken High St, tube etc. Not sure I’d stay again - if I did I’d have to pay more for a larger room.

We were happy enough with this place for the one night we stayed. We received a courteous welcome and the few staff we met were all very professional. Clearly the location is great for the museums and the Royal Albert Hall, though it's a 7-10 minute walk to the tube. We had a deluxe room and certainly the bed was extremely comfortable with lovely sheets. But the decor is very tired and threadbare in many places. The bathroom was also rather tired with a few bits missing. Then again it's not super expensive. Tip: Join the Star Hotels loyalty programme for free and get a decent discount - we did.

Stayed for one night. Room 210 which is a very small double. Bed comfortable with good quality bedding/pillows. However, the Room is in desperate need of painting along with a jolly good clean! Tiny shower Room - again needs deep cleaning! Reception staff very Friendly and profesional. We were disappointed that the restaurant is only available for breakfast and the bar doesnt open until 2pm. The hotel is perfectly situated for the Royal Albert Hall which is just a few minutes walk away.

Stayed here just the one night and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised given a few negative reviews re decor etc. Our classic room was small and a little noisy being first floor and facing the road, but the price for the location was extremely reasonable and we knew what we were booking. Room was in excellent shape, complimentary water with a top up for turn down an excellent touch. Food is indeed limited although the Cod Goujons in the Bar were fresh and a huge portion again sensibly priced. Drinks on the other hand are expensive. Overall this is a perfect base for an overnighter or very short break, and we will return if the need arises.

I chose this hotel due to location as I've never stayed so close to Hyde Park and the museums, and because of the advertised size of the Superior Rooms (248 sq. ft.). However, due to the design of the room, usable space was only around 150 sq. ft., with a very small closet and no shelving or hooks for storage. My husband and I were forced to live out of our suitcases for the six nights we stayed. I have travelled extensively, been to London numerous times, and understand city hotel rooms tend to be small...but that is not an excuse not to be honest about dimensions. The staff was very professional and pleasant, and the bar was very enjoyable. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot comment on that. Overall, we loved our trip to London, but would not stay at this hotel again.

This is a small hotel located near Kensington Gardens and walking distance to South Kensington and Gloucester Road tube stations. Rooms vary greatly in size, so be sure you know what you are booking. Air conditioning in my room barely got below 21 degrees C (71 F) despite being on the minimum setting of 18 degrees. I asked for fan but this never showed up. Some room doors open right across from each other which can create a lot of noise (as was the case with room 209) with guests and housekeeping going in and out. The restaurant is closed so dining options are limited outside of breakfast. The most famouse part of this hotel is the 190 Bar. It is over 100 years old and full of character. Most nights, the bar tenders are friendly and skilled, but on slow nights the service is spotty. The bar does close relatively early, even for guests. There is only one common area in the hotel and sometimes it is booked for special events, so you may end up with no place to work except the bar or your room. Internet is a low standard with speeds less than 100Kb/sec most of the time. If you only need a place to sleep and a drink at the end of the day and you don't mind a warm room, then this is a nice hotel.

We had such a pleasant stay at The Gore. Staff was friendly and accommodating and always wishing us well as we came and went. Location is stellar!! Close to everything (we ended up walking 17 miles one day in all directions). The continental breakfast was lovely, attention to details were top notch and the service was supreme. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the interiors could use a little bit of TLC…but I will say that it’s decor and style is unique and fun!!

This is the most unique hotel I've ever stayed at, with the most wonderful staff. I wish I knew all of their names to shout each of them out personally. The rooms and furniture are totally unique from one another - my friend and I stayed in separate rooms and it was so fun to visit each other's and see how different they were. And, there is a library downstairs that we were able to relax in at the end of the night due to the bar being full. The staff was kind enough to invite us to sit in there and they brought us our drinks to the library. It was probably my favorite room in the building! We ate breakfast at the hotel each morning and it was truly incredible. Everything was so fresh and delicious and it was such a nice way to start our mornings. We also used the laundry services before we left and I really appreciated the care the staff took with my clothes. It's hard to say there is a highlight, because, as my title implies, all aspects of our stay were great. But, the staff is definitely the reason for that. Andre was someone who stood out - he always had a smile and was super helpful. We really appreciated him during our stay! But, the bar staff, the front desk staff, the restaurant staff, and anyone else we interacted with were just the kindest and most helpful. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting London, and if I ever get to take a trip there again I'd want to book this hotel again.

This hotel is lovely. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Rooms are well-appointed and have everything you need in them. Do they need a lick of paint, yes? Mine most definitely did as there clearly in the past had been a leak and the ceilings and wall near the window still showed the signs. But this didn't take away from a very nice homely room. Had a wonderful night's sleep, and the location was perfect for the show I was attending at ROH, which is literally just around the corner. The bar while being pricey has the friendliest and knowledgable staff in the area who take the time to get to know the guests and make wonderful drinks, so it's all worth paying for. I have booked again for when I go to see The Car Man in June.

We stayed at the Gore for 5 nights in March while visiting my son. The staff was very professional and helpful. The rooms are so lovely. Love all the detail. The breakfast was fantastic every day, very fresh ingredients. Love the bar and the library. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. I want to say a special thank you to Andre for helping us with all our luggage and being so happy all the time. Thank you to all the staff for being so wonderful.
