If there's one thing that really hacks me off, it is when hotels ask, no demand, to swipe my credit card upon check-in "for any extras". The booking has been made by my employer and the hotels have written authority to charge the cost of room and breakfast back to company. When staying recently at Club Quarters, they swiped my...

Very nice, clean hotel perfect for the City. Good size room, excellent shower, quiet - and the windows open! Only gripe was being charged a ridiculous amount of postage to return a left item, which the hotel had to pay for as they didn't read the instructions. But, all in all, very good value and I really liked the snacks...

Location was extremely central, about 2mins from London Bridge, 8mins from Borough Market. Reception staff were great, I had the pleasure of meeting Brian and Beata, both were awesome. Brian met me with all smiles in the morning and gave me a quick + early checkin, all these were priceless as I was tired from a bad accomodation experience the...

Nice location near to London Bridge, at Bank station. After moving here from an 5 star hotel, where we were living on 9 sq.meters it was amazing to have a huge room, with double bed. Staff was friendly and helpful. Beata&Gabor,Hungary

I was mainly attracted to this hotel due to its 4-star rating and seemingly reasonable price during a weekend stay in London. I booked three rooms, each of which were scattered about the hotel on different floors. Upon arrival, we were directed to self check in using the automated machines at reception; the hotel appeared to have a minimum staff...

Good small hotel in a good location. Tube nearby which can take you to Heathrow with one change. It takes 25 minutes on foot to get to most famouse places in London. Rooms are clean and decent size. High speed WIFI.

Impressed with this hotel - seems to be a good quality but somewhat "no frills' business hotel. Little touches like good coffee in the lobby were nice, room was good - quite a decent size for London - and staff pleasant. Obviously in the City of London so quite area for weekends (quite a walk to eat out on a...

First of all : I'm not a "difficult to please" so and so who's never pleased. I just like hotels to deliver what they offer - so I like Travelodge : you know what you're going to get (or not !). This place wants to be some imitation colonial style "gentleman's club". "Members lounge" etc etc. But reception has at...

Check in and checkout was polite and efficient but the room really disappointing, looks like it hasn't been decorated in 20 years, horrible green carpets, marked fittings, small dirty window out into an internal ventilation shaft. A very poor sister in comparison to chains such as Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express for a vastly inflated price. Clearly trades on...

Staying in City of London

Neighbourhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighbourhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighbourhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
