Situated in the heart of Bloomsbury in London's West End, The Academy comprises a collection of five Georgian townhouses combined into one charming luxury hotel. Following a multi-million-pound interior refurbishment by YTL Hotels, The Academy is now a proud member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection. The comprehensive refurbishment was overseen by renowned New York-based designer Alexandra Champalimaud, who has created an engaging blend of modern and vintage with a nod to the lives and loves of the Bloomsbury Set who lived and worked in the area in the early 20th Century. This rejuvenated 50 bedroom/suite boutique hotel in Bloomsbury juxtaposes timeless glamour and traditional features with a modern, comfortable city style to create a contemporary take on townhouse living.

Snuggly nestled within Central London is academic and leafy Bloomsbury, an area that boasts walking distance access to many of London's most popular attractions. It is also home to some of Britain's most celebrated museums, including the must-see British Museum. Despite an understandable popularity with students, tourists and day trippers, vast sections of Bloomsbury retain a quiet, residential feel year round and throughout the week.

A beautifully furnished hotel but our room (number 45, costing £369 per night) was not fit for purpose. We complained at the time of our stay and upon departure were assured that management would address our issues and respond by email. We had to chase this response after

This hotel is gorgeous! We loved the decor, the service, our room, and the staff. The location is good - close to the British Museum and restaurants in Charlotte Street, but really quite quiet and peaceful at night. Breakfast is continental style, and there is lots of delicious

The Academy Hotel has been a great discovery for us. First the location- it’s in the center and next to most attractions. The hotel, recently refurbished is small and cozy but the best part of this place is the staff- they genuinely cared about us having a good time and nothing

Stayed in The Bloomsbury Suite for two nights. As this is a refurbished Georgian building, there is no lift and stairs are a bit narrow. What I liked: - friendly and helpful staff - rooms are nicely outfitted. High-quality linen and furniture, lots of lighting options. Ample

Dear Katie Thank you for the question. We have a number of bedrooms located on the ground floor of the Hotel, however access through the Front Door is up two steps from street level. We do not have any lifts within the Hotel and so access to our breakfast room (which is down a floor from Reception) would prove difficult. Of course, Room Service breakfast can be arranged. Kind regards, Michael Hewson, General Manager

I would suggest calling the hotel to see if you culd have a room on the second floor. I feel sure they will hold your luggage, we found that was a service all over Europe when we travelled. Enjoy the Academy!
