I stayed in the hotel on my own on Saturday night. The hotel's location is fantastic - it is very close to few buses and the South Kensington Tube station and walking distance to Harrods and couple of the museums. The staff were quite polite and friendly. The room and bathroom were very clean and well supplied with tea /...

Stayed here on Saturday night for one night as we were watching a concert at the royal albert hall. It was in an excellent location in kensington to go to hyde park, kensington park and obviously the royal albert hall which is a straight ten minute walk. It's also just two stops on the tube to all the major London...

we stayed here on a wednesday night after a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. It was very convenient being only a ten minute walk away. The hotel is quietly located which made for a good nights sleep. Our room was 4th floor, very nice, clean, good bathroom. The staff were polite and friendly. We paid £80 room only and...

It is difficult to find a nice place to stay in London for a reasonable price, our room in the Gainsborough Hotel was relatively cheap, and when we saw the building it was too nice to be true. The location is fantastic, just around the corner from the Natural History Museum, in a row of white townhouses. The reception of...

We particularly enjoyed this very cost effective base in London. Five minutes walk from the Museum area, the other way Leicester Sq Tube. The lift is very friendly, enough for four friends, but it worked where others haven’t at other hotels we have stayed at. The room we had was on the front and we didn’t find it noisy like...

From the outside the hotel looks lovely. Once inside, the lobby was nice. We stayed in room 203 which was clean but dated. Chintzy wallpaper, no double glazing. Bed was comfortable and firm. The shower would've been good if the shower head didn't keep swivelling back to face the wall!! I read other reviews about the noise from the club...

I stayed in December 2011. Booked two nights. Left after one night. Shocked by the standards attributed to a so called 4 star hotel. Its no way a 4 star. 2-3 stars at most. Decor from the 70's. Chipped baths, threadbare carpets. Stale smell in the room. The hotel agreed to refund my second nights stay but the booking agency...

I had stayed here in October 2010 for one night and had no qualms about returning 3rd February 2012. The location is perfect but my stay was not. I was allocated room 301 which was a nightmare - no bedside table which also meant no bedside phone or lamp. No heat in the bathroom and bedroom heat only improved by...

Staying in South Kensington

Neighbourhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
