Greenwich Mean Time starts here, so to speak, as the very concept of global time was established at Royal Observatory, just one of several buildings of architectural interest in Greenwich. Indeed, the whole of Greenwich's historic town center, its Royal Park and a number of related buildings (and one world famous ship, the Cutty Sark) make up the UNESCO World Heritage site known as Maritime Greenwich. Today a laser beam is shot out across the night sky from the Observatory to mark the location of the Prime Meridian. Other bold (some say brash) 21st century additions to the area include landmarks such as The O2 entertainment complex (previously known as the Millennium Dome) and the Air Line cable cars, which offer scenic transport across the Thames between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.

Appalling rude staff from the off. Awful experience! Don’t bother! Couldn’t get directions to even get to the hotel from the staff. Disgraceful! If the hotel had have been cancellable we would not have even turned up!

Clean but small. Neatly tucked away but rather noisy due to thin walls. Interesting dangling lamps. Chic! Towels smelled of bleach. New lobby and bar concept will take getting used to. Breakfast is in Cafe Rouge which is nice as there's table service.

Hotel is in a great location in beautiful Greenwich, ten minutes away from the sterility of Canary Wharf and Stratford. Lots of places to see, the Observatory and Naval Museum are superb and the views across London from the Hill are wonderful. But I found the hotel poor for

I stay at this hotel weekly and book on the Ibis website. Depending on how you book, you can pay on-line or on arrival. I pay @£81-100 per night depending upon whether there's something on in Greenwich - it's all about supply and demand! The bar, parking and room service can all be paid for by cash or card and I've never been asked to leave a card or to have it 'swiped'/held for anything. Hope you have a great stay - and if you're into real ales try the Gypsy Moth near the Cutty Sark.

The hotel and area are fine, do not use the early check in they will hold £50 of your money for 4 weeks. All your usual chains in Greenwich as well as a Weatherspoons, cheap and cheerful food and drink.

I left my car in the morning before checking in during the evening so don't see a problem...just make sure you tell the hotel as they have to register the car.
