DH: Our usual hotel on Basil Street in Knightsbridge is booked. Me: Pick something else. This was months ago. I never checked on the place my husband booked because, well, I thought he'd do some vetting. Nope. Got to this hotel and wondered if I'd wandered into the movie The Shining. Only half kidding. The lobby was filthy. My husband...

For £130 in Knightsbridge, I expected a lot. It started off well with friendly staff, and things got rapidly worse from there. Firstly I had to pay in cash. That meant popping round the corner to the nearest cash machine and lugging a hundred and thirty of my precious English pounds in my wallet back across the street, like I...

Filthy, unsafe, unhygienic. It doesn't even deserve one star. I have stayed in hotels all over the world from budget to luxury and never left a review for a single one but my experience at this hotel warrants it. I would rather stay in a youth hostel next time, or better still, sleep on a bench in Hyde Park and...

Friendly staff, ideal location for Hyde Park Concerts, easy walking distance from Knightsbridge Underground. I paid £150 per night for deluxe double room. Other hotels in the immediate location are £350 plus. The hotel is tired and would need serious money spending to refurb but the bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. The shower was adequate but unimpressive,...

I DONOT recommend people staying at this hotel I got bitten all over by bed bugs and checked out of the hotel immediately. I did not even get an apology from the staff. Absolutely shocking hotel, do not stay here!

The room resembled that of your aunties spare room tarted up with hundreds of cushions from the nearest bargain basement store.. a sleepless night due to the rattling of the ancient air con unit that did nothing but rattle as did the fridge, attempted to open the window which required opening a big sliding door type window then climbing to...

Due to a last minute change in our plans it was necessary to book a last minute hotel. This place is in a pretty sad condition. Rundown, dirty, bug bites from the bed, leftover garbage in the garbage can etc. There is absolutely no way this is a 4 or 5 star hotel. The real problem...WAY OVERPRICED! They changed the...

Avoid at all costs. Ripped stair carpets, dirty, overpriced. Breakfast served in room .....bowl of cornflakes with the milk already poured on. Rip off, tatty furniture, stained bath, holes in the wall, doggy plugs. Lift on its last legs and card machine not working so had to go to cash machine.

This is one hotel that can claim to have the best staff but sadly the rooms while spacious are outdated and is not worth the price tag. The credit card machine was out of order! This is a problem for anyone who don't carry cash and travel using business cards. Rooms facing the road were subjected to road resurfacing the...

Staying in Knightsbridge

Neighbourhood Profile
Knightsbridge
When millions of tourists want to shop 'til they drop, they do it along Brompton Road and its boutique-lined tributaries, including the world-renowned Harrods. And when millionaires want to flaunt what they've already got, many of them find Knightsbridge and Belgravia the perfect place to do so, often behind stately mansion walls or down quiet private mews. Delve beyond the ultra-luxe exterior and you'll find some of this city's cosiest pubs, quiet gardens, and all sorts of indie retailers and enterprises worth a short exercise in spontaneous window shopping. For those looking to take a break from shopping, Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and some of the city's most popular museums are nearby.
