We love the Rookery - it is small, quaint and full of history -- -you feel like a member of a family while here as the staff is very accommodating. The rooms have names, not numbers; the honor bar and sitting room are like a welcoming living room after a long day of seeing London. Rooms are decorated with antiques,...

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rookery. Perfectly located and beautiful room. I literally cannot fault any part of it. The staff are so friendly and we got a lovely surprise bottle of champagne for my husbands birthday ! We will always stay here when we return to London in future

This is my fourth or fifth stay here and I honestly am so disappointed if it's fully booked when I have to be in London (which happened recently). I just can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are so fabulous - friendly, helpful, and can't do enough for you. The rooms are amazing, all different and unique, furnished with antiques...

The Rookery is an unusual boutique hotel in a fantastic area of London. We visited for a birthday celebration. The service was outstanding and the overall feel of the hotel is a very cool and stylish Downton Abbey type feel. Even though the hotel was full, it always felt quite, private and exclusive. The rooms are very ornate, and comfortable...

The Rookery is a lovely hotel in many ways. The building is incredible and many aspects of the hotel are simply gorgeous. The room we booked was smaller than expected but had a fabulous four poster double bed that was as comfortable as it was spectacular. It felt really quite decadent! The bathroom was also very luxurious and the roll...

A stunning, quirky haven in the heart of the City. Inside you feel like you're in the lap of luxury but still homely. Restaurants, bars etc on your doorstep but perfectly quiet at night. Fantastic, comfortable bed and room and lovely staff. Can't fault it. Will return next time in London!

Cosy, quirky hotel in a great location, surrounded by bars and restaurants. In a building that's been there since 1764 - each room is individual. We stayed in the "Joseph Smith" room with a huge, high comfy double bed, and a large bathroom downstairs with roll top bath. The staff couldn't do enough for you, including lending us a cable...

Great character, with wood panelling, and antique fixtures and furnishings. Staff were faultless, the room was clean, and in character. Location is right in the middle, 10-15 minutes walk from City or major attractions.

I have spent quite a number of nights at this unique hotel during business trips to London. All room are named after a person that could have lived in the area in the 1800th – 1900th century, and you can read about all persons fascinating background stories. And all rooms are individually decorated! There is also a lounge area at...

Lovely Hotel very close to Farringdon Tube Station. Quaint and cute in style and decor. A honesty bar is available you fancy a late night libation. The room was a little on the small side but the bed was divinely comfortable. Unfortunately the bathroom didn't contain a shower, just a bath. Overall a cute little boutique hotel to spend a...

Staying in Clerkenwell

Neighbourhood Profile
Owing to its proximity to Smithfield Market – the site of an ancient meat market which remains in operation today – Clerkenwell boasts a plethora of globally renowned restaurants, fabulous local eateries, and some of London's favorite pubs. This isn't merely a focal point for all things foodie though. Spend enough time wondering through the area's maze of streets and you might become accustomed to the litany of slinky models passing between Clerkenwell's handful of fashion houses. Far outnumbering the models are craftspeople and designers, many of them are more than happy to welcome visitors into their studios and showrooms.
