Initially put me in a dark, dusty basement room (4) next to what can only be described as a building site. Loud drilling, piles of pictures stacked up on the corridor floor and you could either close the curtains (great, dark, hot and dusty) or open them and have the knocked out window opposite looking straight into your room. As a lone female traveler, not great. When I complained they moved me to a nicer room on the second floor. Windows need replacement, blinds broken, phone broken but clean and very comfortable bed. No bed side table which is inconvenient for someone who wears glasses. Tried not to think of how hard this building would be to evacuate in a fire. I’m sure it’s legal but no exit designs and just not great practising how many flights you’d stumble down. Loo in room is up two steps which would benefit from contrast tape. Window in loo broken. A great location but at £199 a night excluding breakfast- a major rip off. Friendly, helpful staff - spend some cash on this place and upgrade your health and safety and that would make all the difference in the world. And don’t expect to rent out rooms in the midst of a building site, it’s insulting and shoddy.…
We stayed here for 1 night and had 2 rooms. A double & a single. Hotel is on a nice, quiet street & a very short walking distance from harrods. The reception area was welcoming although very hot. We had the two rooms on the ground floor. They did say we'd been upgraded to a double & deluxe room but not sure how true that was. Bigger room was a very good size and smaller was decent for one person. Single room - right by the reception area so can hear any noise. I don't have an issue with it myself but others might. Air con was old & not very powerful but it just about did the trick. Furniture was rubbish mdf (not high quality like they make out) and very very worn out. Doors were scuffed and had dirty marks on them. Carpet looked a bit dirty. Bathroom fixture were peeling & had limescale. The worst was the shower head. It had weird gunk around the nozzle holes. It was vile. Made me feel icky. I used the one in the other room because i couldn't bring myself to use it. However the rest of the bathroom was clean as was the room. So no dust or crumbs etc. Bed had a really noisy mattress protector. No tea/coffee facilities in the room although complimentary water and soft drinks available in reception to help yourself at any time. Bigger room was in better condition and not so badly tired looking. Staff we met were nice Overall for the price it was ok and i would stay again for a very short period of time IF they sort the limescale out …
The worst service in a hotel. The recpetionnist refuses to book me a taxi and an airport transfer. Took care of it myself. The room does not match the website. Avoid at all cost. You do not feel wlecome at this hotel.
Put us in a basement room next to a building site, literally, knocking banging and crashing next to us. Dust was so heavy in the air was hard to breathe. Air con broken in that room. Moved us to another room across the corridor but internal door left open so dust and smell carried through. Walking through plastic covered paintings etc on the way to the room. This corridor was also used to store left luggage including expensive shopping bags!!! Not one bit secure as external door just off it and other guest traffic. No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, not worth £600 for two nights. Would not recommend.
Our trip to London to celebrate a special birthday was marred by the quality of this hotel. While room 52 was comfortable and quiet, it was tired and needs a good clean. The air con did at least work! No tea or coffee faculties, only available in reception which isn’t great as we would need to take it up 5 flights of stairs or attempt the tiny, rickety lift. Others in our party were given room 3 in basement- surrounded by building work, delivered materials and other peoples luggage. The corridor and room stunk of smoke, there was dust and dust sheets all around and the fire exits were blocked with huge boxes and left luggage. The room had no working air con and you couldn’t open the window because of all the dirt, dust and cigarette smoke. It was awful. They were eventually moved to room 3, which was still in basement and still through the building work, but had slightly working air con and the window could be opened slightly (having to find and make a wedge to keep it open). By the second night the air con had once again stopped working. Room 14 would also be avoided- extremely dirty, no hot water, poor air con. We paid £300 a night for this, expecting a beautiful hotel for this special occasion. We wish we had spent our money elsewhere, or even somewhere cheaper which would have at least been clean! I did feel a bit sorry for the staff as they were having to put up with complaints not just from our party but other guests- no manager seemed to be on site, and they were stuck as to how to help people in a fully booked hotel riddled with problems out of their control. I would not recommend this hotel, and if you are tempted, check building work is finished or that you’re in a high up room.…
