Having stayed at a number of hotels in East London with rooms the size of cupboards I booked the town hall hotel with trepidation as the price was so reasonable. So I was delighted when on my arrival I walked into a beautiful reception area very Art Deco with attentive and friendly staff. Then on to our room which was spacious with reclaimed furniture and a tiny smeg fridge equipped with water, wine and fresh milk. The en-suite was also large with a fab shower fully tiled with large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel which were free standing and of good quality. I didn’t have time to try out the swimming pool sadly. But had a nice early evening drink in the lounge bar on the first floor! Beautiful room with a great ambiance. I will definitely be back.

This was probably my fourth or fifth time staying at this property but I had not been in a few years. It was as gorgeous as it's always been. From the amazing smell all over the hotel, the cool decor, the helpful and cheery staff, the delicious food, the huge, well equipped rooms and the clincher - it is always SUCH great value for money.

They are following strict COVID 19 protocols; they welcome you with a mini travel safety kit on arrival (mask, hand sanitiser, gloves etc); their pool and gym are both open but you just need to book a slot (for an hour) at reception, it's such a treat having that space to yourself for an hour! The staff in the restaurant wear masks and if you want your room cleaned during your stay, you just leave the sign on your door.

I escaped the summer heatwave at the Town Hall for the weekend and couldn't think of anywhere else (in London) that I'd rather be! All in all, I would heartily recommend it for anyone looking to get away from it all for a break!

We spent two nights over the August bank holiday at this cool hotel. It has been beautifully and thoughtfully created in the old Bethnal Green town hall with lots of period detail (some original and some new but in keeping). We stayed in a 1-bed apartment that had all the essentials, including a good shower but our room (and I guess many of the rooms there) face inwards and don't feature views over London, so check ahead if that is important to you. Room service dinner and breakfast were both good with prompt service. Front desk very helpful. We didn't get to try the restaurant or bar but both looked fun. The pool was lovely and warm but narrow, so even though covid regulations meant we had to book hourly slots, this made sense in that you didn't really want more than 2 swimmers in there at a time anyhow.

Bethnal Green has come on a lot and has some nice bars and eateries (we tried Chiringuito, nearby and well recommended), but for us it was also a great springboard into some of the cool East End experiences - we fitted in Columbia Road, Broadway Market, Hoxton, Spitalfields and Brick Lane, all within walking distance. That made for endless opportunities to sample street food, browse vintage shops and take in all the varied people, sights, sounds and smells of this wonderful area!

All in all, highly recommended and very good value.

As a family we chose the Town Hall Hotel for our daughter’s wedding, based on the beautiful building, the friendly and helpful staff, and the transparency and ease of the booking and pricing. The wedding was last weekend and we stayed for three nights. The staff, in every department, were excellent: prompt service, and always with a smile. Our room (G20) was huge, with a kitchenette and bathroom, beautifully designed and fitted, and surprisingly quiet. Other friends had quite different types of room, some the size of a decent starter home, but I liked the look, the style and the high ceilings in ours more. Good quality coffee, tea and milk, plus still and sparkling water were supplied. The breakfast was very broad in choice: we ate the buffet food (good), but you can also order cooked dishes from the menu. There is also a gym and a good-sized pool in the basement. The wedding organisation, catering (incredible quality and huge portions!) and general support was all of the highest order, making it the best wedding ever (of course). But it is true. I could not recommend anywhere better for your son’s or daughter’s wedding (or your own!).

Outstanding as always. Good to be back at the Town Hall, service and cleanliness standards haven't dropped. Booking a 30 min private slot for the pool was even better than normal as we were taking our baby for his first swim.

The hotel is a boutique hotel , there for does not fall under any star grade .
100 years old town hall converted into hotel . Each apartment is different size and different layout . Only 3 floors . Has a heated pool and restaurant onsite . Room service . No car park , park on street . This oldie Goldie comes with baggage , air condition / heater did not work properly . Toilet and shower got blocked .
House keeping is inconsistent . Comes with ally kitchenette , dish washer , some room has laundry machine . No sports channel . Tv in the rooms also different sizes .
Staff were helpful , duty manager tried to assist . Thank you .
Breakfast included which was basic to get you going in the morning .
Bethnal tube station is 5 min walk.
Oxford /Piccadilly circus half an hour .
Overall if one can live with few hiccups
Not bad .

This is by far the easiest review i have everwritten. Making the booking was just a pleasure quick, and even when I lost access to e mail the agent Cavin was able to overcome that issue. The reservaation being confirmed was simple. When we arrived to check in the staff were attentive, helpful, friendly and professional. Everything was explaind in respect of the track and trace side of our stay and we were given lots of easy to digest information. the room was jus as we expected lovely and clean, all the fixtures and fittings works and were nice quality. The bedding and towels were spotless, even the toiletries were nice quality. We had room service for our evening meal and it was very good, Cafe de Paris steak and a House burger. The full english breakfast was a rare treat but set us up for the day. Finally checkout was quick and easy, we were even allowed to secure our luggage ib the room until we had finished exploring the area. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to any group of travellers be it Couples, Families or sole travellers. Its a great Hotel with great rooms which are spotless, their secret is great staff. Looking forward to staying again.

After 30 years of travelling, this is my first negative hotel review. After staying here on many occasions since it's opening, our recent trip will be the last.
The hotel is listed as a 5* hotel - and the prices reiterate this, however the service, level of cleanliness, amenities and general maintenance of the building and rooms do not level up to the rating.

After a messy booking procedure booking and paying for a three person/one room stay, we arrived an hour after check in to find our room door open and a staff member informing us that the room door handle was broken, with no offer of a solution. We stayed in the room whilst it was being fixed but the noise of the maintenance led us to the bar. A substitute room was only offered after a protracted conversation with reception, where we were left none the wiser about how long the maintenance would take. We asked for another room. The substitute room was unusually hot and on the 2nd/3rd floor where we had requested a ground floor room. The bar was closed when we arrived 5 mins after opening time. We tried to re-enter the hotel corridor but our key cards refused entry. We were locked in the lobby with no way to exit. 5 mins later the tender arrived to release us and open the bar. When we asked if complimentary drinks would be available (two hours after check in), we we met with blank looks and no response, which we took as a no.

30 mins later (2.5 hours after check in) we asked reception if the room was now ready, and they had no idea. We returned to the room and the handle was not properly fixed to the door, although we were told by the reception manager that it was "totally fine. We asked for another room, which was then provided. The maintenance of the room was poor, crockery for 2 not 3 people and there was a sock wrapped around the ceiling smoke/fire appliance.

No apologies were offered, it was apparent that not accepting the room with the broken door was an inconvenience to staff.

At check out a 5% service charge was added to our bill without authorisation, after we had asked it to be removed. Reception staff whispered among themselves without greeting us at checkout, and once they had taken payment they handed back the card without any acknowledgement. We had to ask if everything was settled up. Reception staff are poorly trained and have no knowledge of the area/parking/amenities. We were told to "google" information.

I stayed this hotel couple times before. Room is spacious and clean which I have nothing to complain about, but the service and quality of the receptionists needs huge improvement. They always promise one thing but keep forgetting to actually do it! I asked to send cleaner to the room, but failed to do so, asked them to update room key, but again they failed to do so, I simply think they are incompetent. Also they are keep chatting between themselves and not willing to serve customers.

The hotel was spotless and felt very safe, without procedures being intrusive. This helped us to have a relaxing stay in a very well equipped room. We didn't use the corner restaurant this time but previously had a lovely lunch there and would recommend both the hotel and restaurant.

There are some bathrooms that have proper sliding doors and no glass walls. I stay in this hotel every time I visit London (a lot at the minute!) and would say 30% of the time they have proper doors. Definitely ask at check in or beforehand.

Yes they do but has changed to bigger bottles that are welded to the wall. On the positive side it is more ecologically friendly. On the down side you can’t swipe the cutesy bottles they used to have for later use!
