I staid there during the winter right before the holidays. The rooms were warm and the beds were comfortable. There are two types of crowds that were drawn to this location. Luckily I met the people that were very kind and backpackers themselves that wanted to experience what it was like around the 1800's there are many old buildings, markets,...

I stayed here with some friends, thankfully only for one night! Not your standard sort of hostel, more of a bar with some rooms above it. Unconventional entrance to the hostel which means you have to actually go behind the bar (thus always needing a member of staff to let you through) in order to access the stairs up to...

Don't even consider this place. It is disgusting and not worth anything you'd pay for it. When we arrived we couldn't even find the hostel entrance because the only entrance is through the bar (and I mean literally through the bar, walking through the bar counter to some door behind). And this bar has signs plastered everyone stating that it...

Definitely a quirky kind of place, which won't be to everyone's liking. Not your traditional type hostel, just a nest of assorted rooms above a large lively/noisy pub - so standards not necessarily what you'd expect. Full of people living there for cheap London accommodation. I'd say it's good for a night or two, and more suited to the experienced...

Chose this hostel as it was cheap and close to the O2 Brixtion Academy. Stayed for 3 nights. Upon arrival we were taken in through the bar area and shown the layout and explained how to get in etc. Very helpful guy. My friend and I were in the female dorm by the kitchen so it was quite noisy as...

I booked it because it was very cheap. After arrival I realized why. There were mostly permanent residents in the rooms, which were therefore messy and dirty. Scary stairways and passages. It has its atmosphere, but not for me, thanks.

There is a man named Ricky from Ireland staying there who was keeping people up all night, talking loudly to people at 5am when they try to sleep. He tried to pressure me and another woman to snort coke with him and his delinquent friends. Funny that, as I saw a sign stating "quiet at 11" and "zero tolerance"? Also...

It was cheap and that was why I booked it. The location is rather off the beaten track and I ended up spending more on the tube to get to historic places. I found Hootananny Hostel to be overall dingy and unkempt. It seemed some people were just living there and did not really run into any other travelers. They...

I think this could be enough to avoid this place. When my friend and I have reported to the office the presence of bed bugs in our room(my friend has woke up full of red points all over right leg and both arms) they just cleaned the room with a vacuum and throwed away some quilts ,which is not enough to...

Hootananny has great atmosphere and very friendly staff. I stayed in the 6-bed female only dorm. Fun paintings and colours on the walls. Beds reasonably comfortable, bedding quite tatty. A lot of noise from live gig in the pub underneath. Showers and toilets old and kind of run down, but clean. Common kitchen OK. Breakfast and lockers included in the...
