Novotel London Paddington is often celebrated for its professional service and cleanliness, with many guests enjoying the generous room space and comprehensive amenities, including a quality breakfast buffet. However, some travelers mention the rooms feel outdated and report construction noise.
The location is a hit due to its nearness to Paddington Station and central London, but opinions on value for money are mixed, with certain guests feeling the hotel lacks a luxurious touch to justify the costs.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
We stayed at the Novotel for our daughter’s first London Trip, and we absolutely chose the right hotel! Located just a few minutes’ walk from Paddington, it’s a great choice for easy transport links, and as it’s located right within an office district, there’s a great food area less than 2 minutes away with Pret, Greggs, Wagamama, Sainsburys, Itsu and a salad bar and a lovely seating area with deck chairs. There’s also a Black Sheep Coffee seconds away right across from the hotel which has now become a new favourite coffee place!
We arrived early so asked if we could store our suitcase and this was no problem at all, and were warmly greeted when we returned to check in later, all staff were really nice. You need your room key to access the lifts which is always a big plus at hotels for security reassurance and plenty of lifts available.
The rooms are great, really spacious and the building works didn’t impact our window view of the lovely area below at all. There were complimentary bottles of water and tea/coffee facilities and Rituals toiletries. There was easy to use air conditioning in the room which was very well received for a sunny 28 degrees day. The hotel is lovely and quiet at night and we had a great night’s sleep!
We also received a nice welcome card and chocolates to our room in the early evening which was a lovely surprise!
Now to address the issues raised in other reviews- do NOT be put off by the complaints about renovations! Yes the exterior of the building is not as nice as normal, but it made absolutely no difference to our stay and we also got a fantastic price for the night (£192 for a four star hotel in central London!!) and as said previously, our room view was not compromised at all. We heard 2separate guests in front of us at check in commenting on the fact renovations were going on and being grumbly about it- it cannot be any clearer that this work is taking place on the Accor website, and if booking through a travel agent i’d be very surprised if they failed to mention this!
But as the renovations are taking place between 9am-5pm (and when we arrived at around 4pm we could hear no building work at all) I’d also say this.. if you are a tourist staying in an exciting capital city with so much to see and do, who wants to be in their hotel during the day?!
We will 100% return to Novotel Paddington in the future- thank you for a great stay!

What we loved: This Novotel is located near Paddington Station so it is very easy to get around the city. We even liked our view overlooking the railroad tracks. Also, the staff was exceptional - very welcoming and helpful. One even made a list of her favorite places to go in her hometown of Barcelona when she learned we were heading there next.
What we didn't love: The toilet is separated in a different room from the shower/sink room. So strange to think you have nowhere to wash your hands immediately after using the toilet. Also, the shower room has opaque white doors and is right next to where the beds are located. Therefore, the whole room gets bright if one turns on the light in that room in the middle of the night. With a family of four, this was not a great situation.
What was OK: The breakfast buffet. I was very impressed that they offered vegetarian sausages but they did not taste good at all. Otherwise, everything else was fine.

Great location, just a few minutes walk from the tube station. The immediate area, Paddington Central, is really nice with plenty of restaurants, coffee shops & pubs with colourful deck chairs and a large tiered outdoor seating area. Lots of couples and families hanging out - a very pleasant atmosphere.
Our room was modern and clean and the beds, including the fold-out ones for the kids, were comfortable. Because of Covid, the mini bar had been emptied which allowed us to use it as our own little fridge, ideal for keeping water bottles cold. It's worth noting that right now, presumably also because of Covid, you have to request housekeeping if you want them to make up the room, bring new towels, etc.
Our kids loved the swimming pool, which we used every day. It is limited to a maximum of eleven people at a time but most days we were able to go straight in without waiting. They have changing areas beside the pool with towels, hair dryers and lockers that take a one pound coin as a deposit to release the key.
The restaurant staff took great care of us and were superb at sorting out vegan options for breakfast, something we had checked would be available before booking. They have plant 'milks' and can make porridge with bananas, avocado toast, veggie sausages, baked beans, hash browns, cooked tomatoes and mushrooms, various cereals, toast, fruit preserves and fresh fruit. Many of these are part of the breakfast buffet but can be cooked separately since some items are prepared using butter or a shared fryer.
We had a lovely time at the Novotel Paddington and hope to return some day. The hotel was everything it ought to be, the location was ideal and all of the staff were really friendly. Special thanks to Henry at reception who was particularly helpful and went out of his way to make us feel like valued guests.

Let's start with the positives ~~~Lovely Staff and Great Location.
Negatives~~~This Hotel is in need of a deep clean and upgrade it is not 4 star that is for sure.
Why have a toilet on its own with no hand washing basin?
My room had a filthy carpet; it was the second room I had been in as the first one had a faulty refrigerator.
I thought the carpet in my room was meant to look like it did until I saw into another room and then I compared the carpet to the carpet in the hallway. I took photos of the dirt and stains.
I was too tired to ask for another room and did not want the hassle of packing up and moving to what could have been a worse room. Plus the Air Con was of no use at all and I heard amother guest complaining about the air con and noise from Paddington Train station ( keep your windows shut to totally drown out train noise )
Next visit to London will be with Premier Inn, rooms may be smaller but at least the cost is a lot less and rooms are more modern and clean.
I dislike leaving bad reviews but the truth is that this hotel is not worth the money.
As a said already the staff were lovely and friendly and the location is great for getting in to London and there are plenty of places to eat neat the hotel too.

We stayed in this hotel for a few days during July, the hotel is easy accessible.
The receptionist upon arrival was very welcoming and gave us our room keys.
The room was clean but to get more supplies such as coffee, tea, toilet roll you had to order on the app, however I will say they were very quick bringing them to the room.
We went out most days and you can access a bus to lots of places from a short walk from the hotel. The buses accept contact less and currently each journey was £1.55 with a daily cap of £4.90.
Back to the hotel, I am unsure how this hotel for rated as a safe hotel.
As staff , especially reception and a male manager and room service rarely wore a mask and that included time spent next to members of the public. However bar staff did follow the rules and did wear a mask.
Drinks in the bar were expensive , be aware to make sure you want a single if ordering a spirit as they will automatically get you a double..
Staff never once approached members of the public and throughout the afternoon and evening of the 9th July not once were the public asked to wear a mask, this was over 50%of people in the bar and checking In. This also continued into the evening, staff chatted away to them and I am aware some are exempt. But how does a hotel get a safe rating when they don't follow current rules.
The hotel is in a nice location but the rooms do become quite warm

we booked into Novotel London Paddington where my Dad and I had stayed last January for my birthday and before the world ended. The hotels located two minutes walk away from Paddington Station and is right on the door step of the beautiful and peaceful part of town known as Little Venice. The hotel has two hundred plus rooms available and on check in we were given rooms 204 and 208, a twin and accessible room respectively. Once we got up to the room, we discovered that unfortunately the accessible room hadn’t been turned around. We alerted the reception team and they handled it brilliantly. They had the room cleaned down properly in 30 minutes and all three of us got a free drink voucher down in the bar. So well done Paddington team!
The rooms themselves both had a brilliant view over the station and skyline. The rooms are spacious, with a powerful shower unit in the bathroom that fairly wakes you up in the morning. They’re laid out well with multiple sockets for charging all your assorted travel items. The TV unit is huge though we barely had it on while were there, London tends to absorb all the hours in your day without you noticing! The beds were naturally extremely comfy and unusually for me I really liked the hotel pillows. Normally they tend to screw my neck up but not in this case.
We’d booked in the buffet breakfast after we’d loved it last time and yet again it didn’t disappoint. The hotel had a great selection of hot English breakfast options as well as cheese, ham, baked goods, cereals and yogurts. I started every morning with my ritual of a large coffee and orange juice to set me up for the day. All in all, another great experience in Novotel Paddington.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights from 20th July 2021 with my daughter and 6 year old grandson. Perfect location, within walking distance of many restaurants, most of which are situated along the charming ‘Little Venice’ canal area. The hotel is within ‘Paddington Central’ (a hidden gem) with lots of lovely cafes, takeaways and open spaces with (free) deckchairs which we took advantage of in the glorious heat. Also within a 10 minute walk of Paddington Train and Tube station which gave us speedy access to visit all the popular tourist attractions in London.
The hotel itself was very clean and modern, the bar and restaurant area had doors onto a lovely rooftop terrace that we took advantage of especially during the daily ‘happy hour’ 4.30-6pm. A very small range of cocktails but very nice indeed.
The hotel had a small pool which we took advantage of every day as we were staying there in the middle of a heatwave. We were lucky enough to have the pool all to ourselves on each occasion. It was open from 8am-10pm. Only downside is that there is no shallow area so it is purely for swimming and you will need swimming aids for non swimmers. We bought a small inflatable for my grandson. But the temperature was perfect.
Staff at the hotel were wonderful. Smiling, chatty, helpful and very friendly.
We did have one issue on the first night of our stay. We had booked a superior room with Queen-size bed and double sofa bed for the three of us and on arrival the sofa bed was not made up, obviously an oversight by the hotel but we didn’t query this as it meant we had more space in the room during the day and assumed that once we put the bed up at night time it would also contain the appropriate bedding. However when we were ready for bed and opened the sofa bed up there was no bedding so I rang down to reception who sent up a housekeeper. She arrived very quickly but with towels, no bedding! Also there was a language barrier too which we found frustrating as it was getting late and we had a 6 year older desperate for bed. A further call down to reception resulted in a further housekeeper visit this time with the bedding, with which she made up the bed for us, and accompanied by a very apologetic manager who apologised profusely and gave us drinks vouchers to be used during our visit. Such a lovely gesture on his behalf.
On our final day we checked out at 11am but were able to safely leave our luggage with the hotel so had a lovely time visiting the Natural History Museum and V & A museum which are only several tube stops away. It rounded off our holiday perfectly.
I will definitely be paying a return visit to this hotel at some point and would highly recommend.

Spent a few days in London as a city break, our first family trip since the pandemic started.
We haven't been on holiday for a while so we're really looking forward to the trip and decided to use Novotel Paddington as our base as it was in a relative central location and had pool access. I know the Paddington area and thought this location was perfect for our needs.
We parked our car in a car park behind edgeware Road tube station in the citipark and its approx. 12 mins walk from the hotel. We contacted the hotel to ask if we could drop our suitcases off early to allow us to visit London without dragging our suitcases and they mentioned this was not an issue. On arrival at 10am we were told our room was ready which was really good. We dropped off our suitcases and went on our merry way.
There were 5 of us in the family, we would've preferred to have a single room due to price and everyone being in the same room but this was not possible whilst booking so we booked 2 rooms. We did asked for interconnecting rooms to make it easier but this was not possible on check not a big deal would've been nice if they arranged this.
The rooms are sufficient, they provide a double bed and a double sofa bed. There is also room for a cot which we could've used but it was not possible book this arrangement.
The beds were quite comfortable and enough space in the room for kids to mess around. The oddest thing is the separate toilet and sink and shower. Very awkward and strange not seen that before.
With covid protocols in place there isn't any room service on a daily basis and you have to request service using a Web link which asks what services are required. Even after filling out the details we still didn't get the room serviced and only were provided with additional towels and toilet. Main issue with this is the rubbish can pile up if the room isn't serviced regularly.
The location of the hotel is close to a few restaurants like wagamma, zizzi, pret, sainsbury and Starbucks.
Overall nice stay and good access to tube and busy services to central. If you are up for a walk it's about 20 min walk to Oxford Street/marble arch and then it's pretty much central.

The hotel was very quiet but the staff were efficient and attentive. The rooms are very business like, nothing really to write about but clean nevertheless. We had been upgraded to an executive room, but it was far from large, however I understand most hotels In London have quite small rooms compared to other Cities.
Due to Covid, I had the whole swimming pool and gym to myself, which was good, as you book an hour time slot per household.
The location was a short walk to Paddington station, and it’s located in a lovely area where you can stroll down by the canal through little Venice.
Breakfast was made to order, and was quite substantial. This is a huge plus when certain hotel brands in Covid times fail to give you anything but breakfast in a bag.
To summarise, it was nothing special, but wouldn’t deter anyone from staying here.

Use the Hammersmith and City exit. Once out of the station, bear left and follow the signs towards Sheldon Square and Kingdom Street. Follow the waterline until you reach Starbucks, at which point turn left. On the far side of Sheldon Square you will see Kingdom Street with the Novotel at the end (signage visible from this point).
It's only about 5 minutes' walk after you leave the station.
