So I went to stay 1 night at the Shankley and the FOMO suite. It was amazing, looked just as good as it did in pictures, it was stunning. The beds were really comfy, the room was clean and very spacious. LOVED IT! However getting up to the room was difficult, I was not told how to get to the room (the hotel has a few elevators) by the lady who checked us in, and then when I asked she was very vague. Due to this I got lost and asked someone else and they said they can’t speak English so I had a wonder for quite a while until I finally found it. Like I said once we were in the room it was great. Then we had booked a table for a meal in Liverpool city centre and went to our cars to leave the multi-storey car park. Only to get stuck as the barriers and intercom were now not working. We were stuck in the car park for around 30-40min, although I accept this was not the hotels fault, just the attitude from the staff at the front reception came across as they did not care even when I explained I had a table booked and couldn’t miss it as they wouldn’t hold it for me. It just came across like “not my problem and nothing I can do”. Eventually we were let out and barrier was lifted. If the rooms were not as lovely as they were I don’t think I would return as the staff just didn’t seem bothered to make a stay anyway special or even inform us of something as basic as how to reach the room properly, instead of it taking me 20 min it would have taken 3 mins. I had even emailed someone prior to my stay so I could order some extras however nobody bothered to reply to me. Overall rooms, location etc 10/10 Staff and customer service 2/10

Not the cleanest of rooms. Stayed here in room 518 on Thursday 10th June. Bright orange room with drop down bath. On entering the room is smelt a bit musky and was very hot, went to put the air conditioning on which didn’t work, there were 2 small dyson fans available which did a reasonable job but not as good as a job as the air conditioning would have done especially with 5 females blow drying their hair which made the room even hotter The floor was dirty with bits of broken plastic jewellery strewn over it. Tables were sticky and lamps very dusty Only 2 large bath towels and 2 hand towels provided for 5 guests!!! The neon lights on the wall were also not working Made a call to reception to report these things and was told “they would report it in their WhatsApp group” nothing came of this. The pipes to the drop down bath were extremely noisy and kept everyone awake at some point during the night. Two single beds pushed together to make 1 large bed which kept on coming apart during the night. Would not recommend and say save yourself money and book somewhere cheaper that’s probably cleaner and we’re you would get a decent night sleep

I stayed at your shankly hotel on 29/12/20 for 1 night in a double room, room number 409. I have to say that our stay at the Shankly really didn’t live up to expectations, I will tell you why and I hope you take it on board and can understand; 1. On arrival a perfect welcome from one member of staff on reception, he was very helpful, the only thing he forgot to mention was about the Bluetooth speakers. 2. The lack of use of face masks- we are currently in the middle of a pandemic, to which I was concerned about when visiting but Liverpool was promoted for its great efforts during the pandemic so I believed it was my best option as it was a birthday celebration. But it arrive and then see nearly all staff wearing face masks as neck warmers was a disgrace, and a true shame on the high standards of this hotel. 3. We were told room service all night for pizza and toastie to only be told no toasties that night, no problem so we rang at around 12:30/1am for a pizza only to then be told you didn’t have the staff to make it, they advised us to order or just eat and collect from reception. When collecting out pizza from reception we arrived to 3 night porters just sat at the reception desks playing music, which is not what I expected having being told you were short staffed for room service. 4. Dinner - included in our rate, thankfully! We had 3 courses which took almost 3 hours to serve, which to me is ridiculous, starter fine, mains arrived after ordering one without the ‘jus’ and was served with such ‘jus’ sent back and sorted, the Med’rare steak was more Well done- burnt, with no steak knife served and missing peppercorn sauce, while the burger was almost as bad as a McDonald’s standard burger. Short staffed was obvious. 5. Breakfast - well where to start, we were pointed to a table, we sat and was then told nothing so just sat with nothing or seeing nobody for around 15 minutes eventually a man came over to explain that tea and coffee was table service but all other things was buffet, at this time the government specifically say that even in tier 1, table service had to occur for everything, meaning we had to touch the juice station that all other guests had. Not only this but at the food buffet, the loud maskless lady was throwing out food across our plates that nearly slid off due to the grease, wearing no mask when serving food was completely wrong!! Finally on checkout I was told someone would contact me and I am still awaiting this after numerous emails and phone calls even 6 months later and no contact has been made. Emails have been sent and no time has been taken to reply or consider our comments before this review had been posted We all work in the hotel industry and know expectations and standards especially during these times, we were so dissatisfied and know if we were inspectors them days your hotel would be shut down and fined for lack of COVID precautions and staff services.
