It's great to be back! Thank you for your ongoing support over the last year.
A few things to consider before you visit:
Booking is not essential, though we would recommend you book in advance.
Outdoor service is limited to guests in groups of six or two households (no limit on number) is permitted.
Please note we may need to vary our opening hours and food service times given the time of year and the unpredictable nature of our Great British weather!
Track and trace requirements have changed meaning all guests over 16 years of age must check in and provide their contact details. Unfortunately we must refuse service if guests do not comply.
To get the most up-to-date notices on our re-opening, keep an eye on our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you soon!
The staff were extremeley welcoming and made you feel welcome the room and the pub itself was kept clean, food was gorgeous and fast and the service was fast! Thank you for making our trip to liverpool fantastic!
Called into our local yesterday which we have supported over the years and will continue to do so even more through this awkward time. Dave and his staff are lovely people and are trying their hardest but the meal is not as 'affordable' as we would like. Maybe during this period Head Office could think up a 'value for money ' bowl of scouse and crusty bread or a bowl of curry with naan or basic pizza to keep the locals coming in. We will try to get in more often.
Visited Saturday mid-morning. Staff very friendly and efficient (but see note below), and cooked breakfast was spot on in terms of items. Decent-sized pot of tea too. Only minor niggle; it could have done with more 'attendance' as the entrance and bar seemed very quiet, just needed a meet and greet on arrival to provide menus, be ready for payment etc
The Abbey is a great pub. The range of ales is good and it’s got a pleasant vibe and outdoor garden seated area. I’ve eaten here 3 times, including this most recent visit. The menu promises decent quality fare, but the house doesn’t deliver. For example, tonight’s lasagne was delivered with a side salad that had been under the heated pass long enough to wilt lettuce and break down the tomatoes. The food service was functional. I was left hanging after asking for condiments and had to go search out bar staff after 5 minutes. There was no ‘check back’ during the meal, or when the plates were cleared, even with an untouched side salad. Dog friendly, which is the reason for repeat visits. I’ll stick to the liquid over lunch in future.
We stayed at this pub for 2 nights 19th to 21st march 2020 just before lockdown kicked in the manager dave had only been there 3 wks and him and his team were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble they made us so welcome, rooms were spotless and food was lovely. Will def go back again once all this is over
