Worse staff I have ever encounted and for someone who goes away regularly that is saying something. Staff wouldn’t allow the person booking (whose details they had inc name address bank details contact details) as she arrived with ID but not photo ID regardless of the fact the other 6 part members provide photo ID. No help or other options where offered even when the person who had booked offered her bank card and letter headed document with her details on as she doesn’t have a driving license and family at home couldn’t find her passport to send to her. The staff were not only unhelpful but childish rolling their eyes, claiming they were the managers but didn’t seem to be as they had to keep going out the back of reception when asked questioned they couldn’t initially answer. All the way from County Durham the party had to go to the premier inn where they were absolutely fantastic in comparison. The customer service alone at the YHA is enough for me to advise anyone I hear is going to Liverpool to avoid at all costs. Staff names were Dave and Matthew they shouldn’t be working with people never mind customer service…
Went as a group of friends to be told we need photo Id to check in there was 7 of us in which 6 were able to provide this 1 member did not have any so we were told we could not check in bearing in mind it stated on booking form we only needed some sort of Id not photo Id but this was not enough for apparently manager Dave & manager Matthew I have never encountered such attitude of managers ever rolling of eyes as we asked if there was anyone else we could speak to or surely there was some solution in letting us stay as we had travelled for 4 hours they were no help at all they sat in a group at or bar laughing as we tried to sort something out then to be told they had decided not to let us stop we were upset and had few words as you can understand as we had nowhere to go but were no way aggressive I would not recommend to anyone & are now looking to take this further.…
Absolutely disgusting treatment from the staff! Rude! Abrupt! Completely disgusting! Leaving people distraught miles away from home! Names of the staff were MATTHEW and DAVE the treatment our party got from these two was Appalling
Very noisy. I was not in front of the clubs and I could hear the music inside the bedroom. You can't sleep. There is no kitchen, and the staff won't let you use the telephone for an emergency. It is very good located but very noisy. There are also no shared lounge areas.
Great location in the city centre, walking distance to many shops, pubs and restaurants. We flew over from Germany to watch Liverpool play. Great value of money to stay in the heart of Liverpool. Only downside was the noise levels.. we are just around the corner from a few nightclubs, so you have been warned. Apart from that will happily stay again.
I stay at Liverpool Central with my husband and 2 children. The hostel is nice and clean, staff are friendly. The big down size is the noise from the clubs opposite, playing music from 4pm(when we got there) until 2am. It's simple impossible to sleep through it. The yha website does say the hostel is "lively". It's not lively, the yha is quiet, the outside streets are unbearable loud. Sadly not for family's.
This place is disgusting. The pictures make it out to look nice, clean and inviting but it’s far from it. I suspect they have refurbished a couple of rooms for marketing purposes but the rest of the place is horrendous. Black mould everywhere in the bathroom with stains all over the floor, walls etc. Only good thing going for it is it’s location.
paid £170 for 1 night for 4 of us there was no window in the room, we had a fan that blew dust out, the floor was covered in black stuff we all had to get ready sat on the floor hence why we were covered in black stuff clearly wasn’t cleaned. I’ve come home with bites and sores on me after the beds absolutely disgusting. No matter how cheap a place is you should always clean it. £160 is a lot to sleep in a dump like that.
Nice hostel . Better than the average YHA hostel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside was that I didn’t realise it was in the middle of the clubs and bars. The music and noise went on till 2am! But if that’s your thing. It’s a great location.
Stayed here for one night Saturday/Sunday. Very clean, cheap and pleasant, helpful staff. Had a room with 4 beds, own shower and toilet. Busy Bank Holiday weekend but, we all slept very well as it was quiet in the room.
