The Hope Street Hotel receives acclaim for its clean, contemporary atmosphere and spacious rooms, which guests find both calming and stylish. Its central location is another highlight, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the city's attractions. While the hotel's service is generally praised, some visitors mention spa booking issues and mixed breakfast experiences.
Guests appreciate the amenities, including a relaxing spa and outdoor pool, though some feel additional costs reduce the overall value. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently commended, yet noise levels have been a point of concern for many.

Detailed Reviews
The Hope hotel is very well located, opposite the Philharmonic and in walking distance of both cathedrals, university buildings and the Georgian Quarter. The décor is Scandinavian design and the conversion from the original is very attractive. I like the way the design is practical as well as attractive. For example, the wardrobe has good hanging space, room for footwear and drawers efficiently combined, there are directed reading lights on the bed head. The spotless bathroom has a magnifying make-up mirror and the bed was extremely comfortable. Minor niggles; no grab rail in the bath and the non slip bath mat is stored in the wardrobe (so not immediately apparent) and the shower taps are difficult to work out and not reachable from within the shower. Also, if you don’t book breakfast in advance it’s a rather steep £18.50.
All the same, it’s the second time I’ve stayed there and will do so again if I’m in Liverpool again. On both occasions I’ve had a room overlooking Hope Street and it was very quiet. I can’t comment on the rooms at the back. Comfortable and good value, helpful staff.

We always have a great stay and have usually been in the suites on the fourth floor. This time we stayed in a fifth floor suite with my fiancee to celebrate an anniversary, the hotel never fails to impress. Really pleasing to see the COVID measures in place in the hotel. Staff are friendly and cannot do enough to help. Our room looked brand new due to the level of cleanliness. Views of the City are stunning, we could have a bath or shower looking at the Liver buildings from the window which was quite surreal.
Beds are soft, spotless and comfortable, we ordered a bottle of bubbly which was at the room within two minutes of ordering. Later on there was a small issue with the electricity sockets (power went out in the room) again this was responded to and fixed within 2 minuted by the helpful staff.
Room was air conditioned which was easy to use, complimentary waters, hot drinks and biscuits were also available. Breakfast was a highlight and again a big shout out to the team for how they managed the sitting, usually when we have stayed before you stroll down at whatever time you like and help yourself to the buffet style continental breakfast and order cooked breakfast separately, Due to COVID you can choose at reception what time you want to sit for breakfast the day before, you are shown to your table for full table service, everything that would have been on the buffet is available to your table along with any drinks and cooked breakfast you order, I would recommend the Liverpool Breakfast!
Late checkout was included in the room deal and staff were very helpful at checkout. Loved it and can't wait to stay again in September. Would highly recommend.

Me and my boyfriend had such a lovely time at this hotel, the room was stunning and all of the staff were so friendly. The view from our room in one of the corner suits looked out to the city centre (which was particularly nice at night when it was all lit up) and we had views of both cathedrals. The breakfast was also very nice (we both had a big cooked breakfast); there was an unlimited continental menu which you could have with anything off the menu and unlimited tea and coffee which we agreed was good value for the price. The location is ideal, especially for us as we went to a few bars in the city centre in the evening and so it only took us a few minutes to get back the hotel. Although we didn’t this time we have eaten and drank at the London Carriageworks before and would highly recommend - we only didn’t this time as we wanted to try some new places in Liverpool. Big thank you to all the staff for our lovely stay.

Visiting Liverpool for my birthday, so decided to treat ourselves to a visit to the Hope Street Hotel. We booked one of the suites and asked for one of the loft rooms we were allocated room 403 which is at the front of the hotel. Very nice room, one exposed brick wall, skylights , a sofa area with a TV, very large bed with another TV and separate bathroom with a big rain shower and a huge free standing bath. Room was spotless although the black sofa was looking a little worn. The hotel itself was really clean , modern and staff were very friendly and helpful. We didnt hear any noise from the rooms next door or above ( although not sure if anyone was staying on the top floor) and we ended up opening a skylight as it was very warm especially with the quilt at night so we did have a bit of an issue with noise from the street below ( but only as there appeared to be a couple of groups of merry liverpudlians singing after midnight ) We booked direct so got the breakfast for £13.50 each, I know some reviewers have questioned the quality and value of the breakfast and to be fair I think if I'd paid the standard £18 i would have probably agreed. But for £13 considering that got us a couple of coffees each, fruit, a croissant with cheese and ham and then a choice of cooked breakfasts it wasnt to bad, although the quality of the liverpool breakfast was a little bit disappointing. Overall though the hotel itself was excellent and the room we stayed in was really nice, we particularly enjoyed the free standing bath.

We all, including the dog, stayed in a lovely corner room with amazing views of Liverpool
Spotlessly clean and beautiful presented, probably the best We’ve ever seen in our many years travelling the globe and staying in quality hotels.
The housekeeping staff should be proud of the job they have done in these difficult times!
The most important thing to us as a family was our young dog, a COVID puppy. He was welcomed as a human would be.
We ate at the 2 restaurants both nights, the al a cart restaurant, food was small and pricey, however it was very good.
The 1931 was however very expensive and poor quality. All our food was cold also.
I would recommend this hotel to all!

I stayed at Hope Street Hotel with my husband during October, while Liverpool was in Tier 3 lockdown.
The hotel was first and foremost very Covid secure, hand sanitiser stations in all public areas (even the lift!)
All of the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming.
We stayed in one of the corner suites and had a spectacular view of the city, from the Metropolitan Cathedral on one side, to the Liver Buildings on the other.
The room itself was spacious and bright, with a huge bath. The bed was extremely comfy and there was no noise from any of the other rooms.
The room also had a small balcony which was a nice addition.
We would absolutely stay here again, and probably choose the same room type again, the views couldn’t be beaten!

Upon check-in we were advised that an additional £50 deposit had to be taken from our card in case of damages. We hadn’t been forewarned about this, and £50 is quite a large amount of money when you’re working to a budget, so I recommend the hotel ensure those booking are made aware of this.
The receptionist advised us that because we were attending the Liverpool Philharmonic that evening we qualified for a room upgrade, which was nice, and the room we had was lovely. Great tea and coffee making facilities / spacious / comfy bed / large bathroom and most importantly, spotlessly clean.
We looked for the WiFi code but couldn’t find it on the information in the room and hadn’t been given any literature relating to such at check-in.
It’s the hotel’s policy that you have to hand in your room key upon leaving the building, which was fine, but when we came back to collect it the gentleman on reception seemed disinterested in us as customers and handed our key over to us with barely a word of greeting.
The next morning we were woke at 8.18am to the sound of drilling from the building work currently going on. When we mentioned this at checkout the receptionist mentioned that they weren’t supposed to start the work until 9am.
We left we very mixed feelings, the hotel itself is beautiful and I’d return, but the customer service needs some work.

We stayed one night in this hotel to round off a long weekend in Liverpool. I have always wanted to stay in this hotel and it did not disappoint
The entrance area and reception is beautiful, and the rooms are clean, modern and delightfully fuss free, whilst still feeling very luxurious (and extremely comfortable beds). We used room service which was quick & easy, had some cocktails in the bar which were excellent. The breakfast in the morning is certainly of the quality you would expect from a restaurant with the reputation of The London Carriage Works.
We wanted to chill out in our room in the evening rather than go out, so got a takeaway & the staff were more than happy to provide plates and cutlery for us, which was a nice touch as some hotels with onsite restaurants might get funny about that sort of thing
My only gripe is that on their website they state they offer sky Sports which was great as I wanted to watch Celtic game & USPGA golf but when we got there they had apparently unsubscribed until the English Premiership season restarts. They did their best at reception to sort, but could not get it working, which was a bit annoying . It did not however detract from what was a great stay

We stayed here Aug bank holiday 2019 and really enjoyed it. Our room was perfect, we couldn’t fault anything at all. 5 Star. Unfortunately our recent stay this bank holiday weekend did not compare. We booked a king deluxe room with breakfast. What we got was a shabby suite and apparently no breakfast. There were multiple issues with the room, but the main issue was the couch was covered in stains and dirty. We raised the issue at reception and asked for it to be cleaned, we then went out for a few hours, when we returned there was no change we still had a dirty couch. We didn’t go near it, just looking at made me feel really let down. We mentioned this again at the reception when checking out, but were told it needed to be cleaned professionally as they were unable to remove the stains. Why have a grubby stained couch in what they claim to be a deluxe room? If you can’t clean it, it should be removed. During this pandemic the last thing you want is to be doubtful of the cleanliness in an establishment, it just put us both on edge. If we book a deluxe room we expect a deluxe room.
The bath panel was damaged and warped and very tired looking, the floor tiles in the shower we’re cracked. The step leading out to the dirty balcony was very worn and the door didn’t fit correctly so made a terrible noise when you tried to open it.
The room rate was £156 with breakfast but then they tried to charge us extra for breakfast at this point I questioned the rate for the room and they claimed we had been upgraded free of charge. We had not been upgraded as far as we concerned, we felt down graded I’m afraid so I told them how disappointed we were with the room. They “discounted” the room for us so we ended up paying exactly what we expected to pay which was £156. We shouldn’t have to argue to pay exactly what was quoted on the first place, they wanted to charge us £183 for a room that was not up to standard. Left with a bad taste in our mouths and completely confused about their pricing structure so we won’t be returning. It’s such a shame as our 2019 visit was perfect. Avoid room 415, it needs a lot of attention.

Responded 9 Sept 2021
Dear macaj1, Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at Hope Street Hotel. We really appreciate your feedback following your stay with us – and we are very sorry to hear of the wear and tear of the sofa within room 415. Having checked the details of your invoice I can see that your room was upgrade on a complimentary basis and an amount was discounted for you further following the issue you raised with your room. You had added breakfast on top of your Room Ony room rate which mean you paid We would like to clear up some confusion with what you seem to think you were asked to pay. Your room rate was £129 including breakfast was £156 for a deluxe room (which was upgraded complimentary to a studio), our Front of House Manager then removed £29.00 from your bill (discounting your room to £100) and then including the two breakfasts you had added on to your booking brings the total charge to £127. I don’t believe myself or my colleague asked you to pay £183.00 – this is £56.00 difference from your total bill and also isn’t the price we would charge for a studio upgrade so we are a little confused as to where this amount has came from? Upon check in all guests would be asked for a card to authorise £50 more than their room rate to cover any extras – however this is then released on checkout. I hope this clears up any confusion but if you do have any further questions please feel free to contact us direct. Kind regards, Sarah D

I can’t recommend this place enough! Location is perfect. Myself and my boyfriend stayed for our first anniversary and from beginning to end I couldn’t fault the hotel, amenities or staff. They called the day before to confirm my booking and the room was ready right on time. Check in was easy and the staff were lovely and chatty. The room was incredible! The view was an unexpected and amazing surprise. The bed was very comfy. The room was impeccably clean with amazing attention to detail in these troubled times e.g a fresh remote for the TV was a clever and appreciated touch. We were well informed about the onsite bar and restaurant and I only wish we had the time to enjoy them. I can’t thank the team at hope street enough for making our occasion that much more special. We will most definitely be back.
