Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had a wonderful stay at the Selina hostel in early February 2022. All staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The room were clean and comfy with nice beds and bathrooms. A particular mention to the breakfast service and Denise who was wonderfully helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Really enjoyed my stay and the city and would happily return.

Booked 2-3 weeks in advance 2 nights at the end of July / beg. of August. I checked their website before booking and they didn't display any measures following Covid-19. When I turned up, the place was closed, the telephone line not answering (or even closed ?), I emailed them and no response. Fortunately it was a "cheap" booking but i'm really disappointed in the "no-show" attitude. Absolutely not recommend.

I stayed there for at least 3 days and I really loved the cleanliness and and the helpful staff.. Could have a proper breakfast which I did not try, but did use the kitchen it's really clean and utensils provided for cooking, did laundry and its very convenient. Center of the town but far from the coach station, recommended to take uber or taxi as the roads are complicated to search for at night. Nice helpful staff. Nice stay, thanks yall.

Stayed here with a group of friends for a weekend. It's in a great location, the rooms are good with comfy beds all with plug sockets and bedside lights. The two evening receptionists, two girls, were really pleasant and helpful however the old bald receptionist clearly has no passion for this type of work and comes across as rude everytime. The downstairs area lacks atmosphere, some music or radio would be a simple fix. The staff walked into our room three times in the morning of checkout, all before checkout time. As I say, this place is good but could be great if they put a little effort in.

Really noisy bedroom doors that slammed every time other guests went in and out of their bedrooms, plus extremely noisy guests opposite our room meant that we slept very poorly on both nights. The room was extremely small, marginally bigger than the bed itself. Poor value for money at almost £100 per night. However, bedroom was clean, bedding was comfortable, bathroom was clean with a powerful shower. Location was central. Staff were friendly. And they offer a reasonable breakfast at £3 per person.

Excellent location for Liverpool city centre attractions. Very comfortable stay. Small dorm with shower, sink and loo. Comfortable bed with mini light, socket for recharging mobile phone, AND!! a curtain for each bed so that the occupant is not disturbed by others putting on the lights. The duvet was not too warm, so that meant a good night's sleep. What I really would have appreciated, and I told the young lady at the reception, is that the door behind the shower really needs a hook for hanging clothes and towel. The only place to hang towel and clothes while having a shower is on the door handle...! (Everything can easily end up wet on the floor...!) The kitchen is good too with kettle, toaster, utensils, fridge and a free food cupboard. There is a large common room for socialising or relaxing. As for the "off road parking nearby". No, this is not good. It opens at 7am (9am Sundays) and closes 8pm. No good if you want to retrieve your car early, or park late. It is locked at night which can be inconvenient. So I'd say, no to the availability of car parking, unless those hours suit you.

Would not recommend staying here. I'm afraid the staff were unhelpful and frankly uninterested in their guests upon arrival. Not only were we misinformed about parking, a member of staff just walked into our room long before the check-out time; we were still in bed. As compensation, were we offered 20% off our next visit - why on earth would I want to return? It's a shame that our experience does not seem to match other reviews, but this hostel is not worth the price.

I have recently just stayed at hatters Liverpool this weekend arrival date 6th December, I came to Liverpool for my birthday, as I read the reviews I was a little nervous on staying at hatters. From the moment I walked I got such a warm welcome feeling, we went to our rooms they were clean and so comfortable. I can’t stress enough that James the night shift reception made my birthday weekend Liverpool experience the best ever! He cared so much for me and my friend, made sure I had everything and was okay, he was amazing at his job and so polite. I would 100% come back to hatters hostel if I know James and Jamie the two night shift staff were there. They have really made my hatters experience the best! I can’t thank them enough!
