We were on the 4th floor, room 415 as we asked for a quiet room. Extremely hot room, air conditioning unit went to a minimum of 19*, nowhere cool enough. Has subdued lighting in room and bathroom, too dark especially with two bulbs out, reported needing changing on the Friday on arrival, still not replaced on Sunday at checkout. We were offered to change room but thought unnecessary as expected bulbs to be replaced at least next day! Bed comfortable. Room extremely clean. Tv remote didn’t work but was replaced on request. Breakfast was enjoyable but they were short staffed and ran out of cups, so paper cups were supplied in replacement. The reception toilets were completely out of toilet paper. Free parking available, however, many spaces had overhanging branches from surrounding trees which led to cars being covered in tree detritus and bird excrement. The staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful. Overall, a good hotel but some basic improvements needed.

I do not normally write reviews but felt it was necessary in this instance, during these uncertain times businesses have to introduce certain safety measures to ensure everyone's safety but unfortunately they only work if staff are encouraged to enforce these measures. Unfortunately we noted to many instances of people wondering around the bar area without face masks and staff turning a blind eye, obviously I am aware that certain people with medical conditions are excempt however I believe that these people are long term residents who the staff have become friendly with so let them get away with it.

There should be someone on reception monitoring the wearing of face masks around the hotel especially around the breakfast area. The number of people not wearing masks in relation to the number of guests was disproportionately high, especially around the breakfast area in particular the hot drink and toast areas. One member of staff was also not wearing his mask over his nose and serving food. Could this be addressed especially regarding the numbers of infections in the area? Apart from that the hotel was in a great location for us, we had a great view and free car parking.

Dear F937XZmichelleb Thank you for leaving a recent review online., We take all covid measure very seriously at the hotel, and the member of staff in question was addressed directly by the General Manager, we do very much appreciate you highlighting this. The masks are not required when you are sat at your breakfast table, but are required when you attend the Assisted buffet, We have a member of staff on duty here that will ask all guests to wear a mask. We do have a no mask, no service policy. We do have a guests that stay with us that are medically exempt, which we log at reception. There is currently no legal requirement for those who are exempt to display this either with a lanyard or other identification. I can only applogise if this is what you experienced. We are working with the local authority to find a solution. We are delighted to see you enjoyed the rest of your stay. If you would like to know more about our Covid procedures, please do contact us direct on reception@exhileicester.co.uk, we can addresses any concerns you have and hopefully offer you grater reassurance We hope this will not deter a future reservation with us. Kind Regards The Customer Service Team

Good hotel, all staff friendly, good welcome on arrival, can get food delivered to room Or seating area in lobby .via blues bar dinner next door. Good standard of cleanliness of rooms. Only gripe too many people walk around hotel without face masks including in lift especially in these times of Covid-19. Hotel does its best but it’s mostly the same guests that seem to be here regularly. Shame because staff are generally amazing but need to enforce non compliant quests to wear a face cone ring at all times.

Dear Jayne1948 Thank you for Leaving an online review We are pleased you enjoyed your overall stay, and that the room was clean. We do have guests that stay with us that are medically exempt, which we log at reception, the issue is that there is currently no legal requirement for those who are exempt to display this. We know that at least that would provide comfort to those who have to wear masks We are trying our best to make sure we follow all Covid secure procedures, but to those exempt, there is no way for us to inform you of their stats, other than we keep a log at reception. We hope this will not deter a future reservation Thank you The Front Desk Team.
