Having booked through Awesome Weekends for 22 guys, for our yearly works trip, i read the reviews here & was a bit concerned. I should'nt have been. For £25 including wristbands( which a lot of places refused free entry although on leaflet it was included) The Carlis was brilliant. The landlady Beryl phoned me the day before to ask when...

What can we say, third visit in two years- Beryl is the Best Landlady in Blackers, nothing is too much trouble; rooms are clean, comfy bed, top breakfast with plenty of tea & toast, Leave your luggage, safe & sound until your ready to head home. Small bar but reasonable priced so have a few before you head out and...

We paid £60 quid for a double room - what a rip off. If we had paid £10 a night then I would of expected the poor standard. The rooms are dirty, smelly and mouldy. The decor is filthy, doors are hanging off and some handles are missing. The bar did open when requested guess that is the only positive...

Stayed here with 11 mates on a stag do and it was absolutely "fit for purpose". It's more like a "hostel" than a "hotel" (but then at £25 a night it's cheaper than some hostels); the beds were adequate, bedding was clean and washed, toilet and shower worked and were clean enough, breakfast was edible (on the greasy side, but...

I booked here for my mate's stag do. 14 of us stayed an we had a right laugh. Beryl is an absolute legend, the brekkie was quality and they opened the bar for us and looked after our bags the day after the night before. It is exactly what it says on the tin, if u want caviar, go elsewhere....

On reading the other reviews of this place i felt necessary to write in. The Carlis is cheap and cheerful, its not the cleanest or the newest but Beryl is an absolute star. it costs £25/£30 a night with a breakfast, has parking and close to all the pubs and clubs. If you are in a group you can do...

I'm actually struggling with what to write here as I am still in shock that this place calls itself a hen and stag weekend B&B!! My advice would be lose your deposit and book elsewhere as this place is truly a stinking, filth hole. 1: The reception is a manky old ironing board 2: It stinks of fags and what...

• On arrival the place stunk of stale cigarettes. • The rooms consist of a bed/beds, wardrobe and bathroom. There was no drinks facility in the rooms. To use the bar you had to give a time in which you intended to use it so we had to buy cups of tea from Mc’Ds and bring the back with us....
