Loved this B&B. Nothing was to much trouble. Very friendly hosts, great room. Very good central position, off street parking. Excellent bed and facilities. Sightseeing suggestions made by hosts very relevant to my needs.

Me my wife and 5 year daughter stayed for 1 night. The owners were extremely helpful and welcoming. Very near to Windermere and Bowness. No need to use the car. Breakfast was perfect. The rooms were very clean, comfy and homely. We will definitely be back in the summer.

Unfortunately I was unable to attend the event we had booked in for. However, my Wife and Sister in law attended in my absence. The report was of an extremely well appointed premises with super facilities. The room was very comfortable with en suite and the breakfast more than enough to keep going for a few hours. They were made...

This place is all you would ask from a good B&B experience - warm, homely, and serving up a mean (and generous) breakfast. I especially loved the daily surprises that Mark and Jane left in our room - homemade brownies on one day, and a bottle of sparkling water on another. Definitely worth a visit!

Hi Jim, thanks for the great score and concise review. We provide 3 books for our guests, the most popular is our 12 days out book. This has inspiration for sight-seeing the local area from walking to boat trips and the bonus is they are custom made with direction from out front door. Glad they helped. Best wishes Jane

Excellent location, not very far away from both towns, approximately 10 mins walk towards the pier. Room is very tide, clean, and good value for money. Superb breakfast - a lot of choices, from full English breakfast to egg Benedict, very tasty and delicious! Recommend for family, friends and weekend getaway. A 10 out 10 bed and breakfast place!

Thank you for your review. It's good to note that we are exactly halfway between our two local villages Bowness and Windermere. This means no car required for sight-seeing and evenings out. Just 10 minutes walk gets you into either with a wealth of shops and lovely restaurants to choose from. Thank you for mentioning this in your review. Best...

The Thornbank is ideally situated between Windermere and Bowness. Mark and Jane are a friendly couple who take pride in their business. Breakfast was yummy and the flapjack treat left in the room, in addition to the regular refreshments, were most welcome after a day of walking and shopping. Jane went out of her way to share her local knowledge,...

Very friendly welcome and the warmth and hospitality continued throughout our stay. Our room was very comfortable and airy, the bathroom modern. Breakfasts were excellent. Great location, between Windermere and Bowness so just a short walk to either town centre. Could not fault our stay which was very enjoyable, even when it rained!, Many thanks to Jane and Mark.
