For once we found the trip advisor reviews misleadingly positive and wish we'd chosen somewhere else. This is a B&B not a hotel and a pretty expensive yet mean spirited one at that. For example the bathroom cosmetics were mediocre at best, breakfast was only available for one hour, seating allocated inflexibly and buffet items frugal and poor. As for...

Conveniently located on the main road between Windermere and Bonness, and generally clean and comfortable. However it bills its self as a hotel when it is very obviously a B&B, the web site is misleading - where are the White Company products? Issues were selecting breakfast the night before, usual practice in hospitals, not welcome on holiday, limited breakfast menu...

I travelled in June 2015 so this review is a little late! But trip advisor setting only allow to go back one year. Lovely place to stay with comfortable rooms and great location within a comfortable walking distance to Bowness on Windermere. Was greeted with a bottle of Prosecco which was a lovely touch and a great start to our...

Stayed here for the weekend after our wedding. This was a welcome little break after the stress of wedding planning. We arrived at The Howbeck and were welcomed by a lovely lady on reception. She offered us some refreshments while we were checking in and the cleaners finished up in the room. The room itself was beautiful. We stayed in...

The Howbeck is a beautiful place to stay in Windermere. This is our 3rd visit and it never disappoints. We stayed in the retreat which was ideal for the much needed time out we were ready for! Lovely staff, beautiful rooms, great location and fabulous breakfast. We will be back!

To be honest the accommodation was fine , however I was a little disappointed with our room ( very small, tiny tv and no bath ) the bed was very spacious and comfy and the staff where courteous . Just feel it was a little overpriced for what I was getting.

We stayed here for 1 night in the kilnhow room and was slightly disappointed having expected 5 star. The room was small and the little touches to make it 5 star where not there. For example a cheap TV on the wall not put up straight. The bathroom was a good size and the shower excellent. The location of this...

We stayed at the Howbeck for one night for our anniversary. We had the Mickleden room which is at the back of the hotel on the ground floor. It is a lovely light room which looked out onto the magnolia tree which was in full bloom. The room and bathroom were very clean and the nice touch of a decanter...

Stayed two night's at The Retreat at Howbeck. Booked direct arriving a couple of hours after we'd made our booking! Kindly greeted on arrival and shown around our accomodation. Complimentary decanter of sherry in our room, fairy lights above our bed and scattered rose petals. The Retreat is privately located at the rear of the building. Beautifully appointed throughout. Patio...

Went to The Howbeck for a 2 night stay over Easter weekend. Room was lovely and spacious, bed comfortable. Both bedroom and ensuite were clean and well-kept. Staff were all friendly and polite and food was very nice with a good choice at breakfast. Would return. Many thanks for a lovely break.
