I really so wanted to give this a 5 star rating as the hotel is superb and all the staff we met were super attentive, without being in the way. I did particularly like that the receptionists met you at the bottom of the stairs....More

We’ve been twice this summer. The food is simply exceptional, as is the service. This is my favourite Lake District restaurant by far. The views are pretty impressive too. I cannot recommend the Samling enough in words. Please do try it.

I agree - this hotel is more for couples than children in my experience.

We had lunch and the atmosphere was very relaxed - I suspect smart casual would be fine
