Our first time here, a very civilised experience. Having been welcomed by the owners on our arrival we were shown to a really nice room with a sofa and an extremely good walk in shower: the restaurant / breakfast room has a huge set of bay windows looking onto the superbly kept garden with some cute ducklings in residence and... Delighted you're already thinking of returning! We have many guests who come again and again, but it's always a pleasure when new guests come and enjoy themselves too and, hopefully, become regulars over time. The restaurant is certainly well-designed, with great views of our walled garden, wherever you sit. The ducklings are an added bonus during the summer - they're... More

I did not stay at the hotel, but had a meal there with my parents who stayed a couple of nights. The rooms looked comfortable and my parents enjoyed it. The food was outstanding. My wife and I haven't stopped talking about the canapes. The starters mains and deserts lived up to the reputation. Tasty, well presented and just the... More

We have just returned from a wonderful 3night stay. What a welcome! Such a surprise to be shown around before being taken to our room.....other Hotels really should take note. This is what hospitality is all about. We were very well looked after in a quiet and charming way. The amazing cuisine, beautiful gardens and a new born family of... More

Thank you for your kind words. It shouldn't be such a surprise to be shown around a hotel on your first visit but, sadly, this seems to be the case! We regard it as the first stage in hospitality that, hopefully, lasts throughout the stay. The ducklings are adorable, this is the seventh year running we've had a wild mallard... More

We're delighted you enjoyed TSH so much and thank you for your recommendation. The walled garden here at TSH is a wonderful spot from now until about October - always something of interest and a real sun-trap too! We've just put the croquet hoops back for the summer, so next time you come, you can indulge in some violent play!... More

We're delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to review. The Lakes are lovely of course, but the Eden Valley has just been named Britain's Loveliest Valley! There are lots of opportunitiies to explore, returning to Ash's wonderful menus! Hope to see you again soon... More

As for our previous two visits, the hotel and its restaurant was excellent in all respects. The hotel is well situated for access to the Eastern Lake District, Haweswater in particular.
