Friendly helpful staff especially waitress Kyla and the landlady. Meal was excellent - came just as we asked for - well done chef. Christmas decorations were lovely. Well worth a visit and will call again.

We have just had a family weekend away and choose the Herdwick for lunch, what an amazing find, full of quirky character, lovely welcome with very friendly staff. The food was faultless and I think I had the best chips I have ever had in my lifetime, there is something for everyone on the menu. Our next visit to the...

We stayed two nights for a couple of days Lakes walking. Loved the quirky style of the pub, and Shaun & Jo made us feel at home straight away, especially our dog. Evening meals by the roaring fire were delicious and very welcome in the freezing weather. During this very cold snap, our bedroom and the breakfast room were cold...

Just spent two nights in this delightful country inn. Though on the small side the bedrooms are cosy , The bed was very comfortable and the shower hot.. The evening meals and breakfasts were superb and the wine was very pleasant. Everywhere in the inn is full of interesting items and meaningful sayings. Jo Jo is a very pleasant host...

Just arrived and so pleased. Full of character and very cosy. This applies to both the bar area and the room. Staff very friendly and a beautiful steak has just arrived. Can thoroughly recommend. Finished the steak and it was top class. Talking with some of the guests and nothing but praise. Decided to stay an extra night. A good...

On our business trips to the Lake District, we usually use Premier Inn at Carlisle, so this was something different, and I will try to be fair. For us it was certainly quirky. Friendly staff, and a huge welcoming open fire. Lots of original bare wood and beams. Stone stairs. Lots of nooks and crannies. Pub humour on every bit...

Not heard much about this place and been coming to the area for a while. Apparently new people running it, they seem to be doing a very good job. Lovely atmosphere, very dog friendly, log fires, v nice staff/owners. Food, perfectly decent pub grub. Will certainly be back.

Our room was gorgeous, cosy, warm and loved all the special little touches and decor, had the best sleep I've had in...
