Keswick is a lovely place to stop and finding a hotel in the main square is really good. We stopped overnight, welcome was good and it was great to stop over in Keswick again. The hotel appeared somewhat tired looking in the bar/restaurant and bedroom areas however I am told that a refurbishment is due later this year. Service was...

The food here came recommended by our daughter and son in law. There were 8 of us for Sunday lunch this past weekend. We hadn't booked but were found a table. It was around 1.45 and quite busy. Two of us ordered starters, ribs which were good and fried brie balls, also enjoyed. Unfortunately our wait for the mains was...

Bit of a clinical greeting but overall the bar area was lovely, going up to the rooms was beautiful photography. Room was small but perfectly formed everything we needed, nice modern decoration, hot shower, sweet little view of the snowy hills. Our only real niggle was the beds were too soft and didon't get a good night sleep for 2...

We returned to this hotel to celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary, having honeymooned here. The hotel had changed a lot and was much smaller than before. The manager very kindly upgraded us to the Monarch Room upon booking as we were celebrating our anniversary. We received a very warm welcome from Ross, the assistant manager, however, from then on our...

First of all, the food was good. Decent price and good portions. It is just that we did not feel relaxed taking our children there. They are well behaved but even so, we felt they were being too noisy(even though they were not!). Perhaps it was just us being paranoid. Probably best to make your own judgement.

This is a perfectly located hotel with loads of character. We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely meal here on the 1st night. Breakfast on the 1st morning was excellent, however on the 2nd morning they had a problem with the kitchen extractor fan so no hot food available. The staff were very apologetic and this was reflected...

The newly refurbished bar is absolutely gorgeous but the same care and attention to detail hasn't been carried through to the rooms. We stayed in room 9 which was tiny and very awkwardly shaped with stairs directly down from the door. The ceiling was water stained and paintwork in general was rather shoddy. It didn't have the finish you would...

This hotel is a little gem. It's in a perfect location for exploring the Lakes or going walking. However, it's best feature is undoubtedly it's lovely staff, the warm, cosy decor and the great food it serves. The full Cumbrian breakfast is outstanding and there is a good choice of other dishes for those who prefer something lighter. Extra touches,...
