Beautiful bedroom, sitting room and balcony just outside Kendal but away from it all. Superb host who provides a superb service and breakfast. A typical Sawday property; excellent, different, bespoke.

Four of us were walking the Dales Way, we had booked in advance at Lapwings, not knowing what to expect. On our walk we got hopelessly lost. We had contacted the B&B around 5.30pm to let them know we were around an hour and a half away. At 9pm we rang again to say we were lost. The owner told...

We stayed here whilst walking the Dales Way. A little way off the trail but more than worth the walk. What an amazing stay, comfortable accommodation, food was fabulous with beautiful homemade bread. We had pancake and bacon for breakfast and so much more.

Lapwings is a beautifully converted old barn that now has all the luxuries of modern living. Breakfast is specially prepared in your private quarters by Ric, with unrivaled homemade breads, jams and even homemade bacon! One of the best B&B's I have ever stayed in. Beautiful views greet you every morning. Just make sure you have your own transport to...

As all reviews agree the breakfasts here are excellent - really fine black pudding, sausages, top quality bacon and fascinating varieties of bread and of marmalades. The cakes on arrival were also superb. You may think you've had good breakfasts elsewhere but these are the best! We liked the isolation (though we had some difficulty finding it at first -...

We stayed at this B and B on our way back from Scotland with our two small children. The accommodation was perfect - 2 self contained bedrooms and a sitting room (and balcony) which meant that we had lots of space. There was also two bathrooms. The B and B is situated in a stunning valley just outside Kendal -...

We stayed here for our 5th night on The Dale's Way walk. The accommodation is just over a mile away from the footpath, but the owners are willing to pick you up and also drop you off, which is a godsend when you have weary legs!! We stayed in the 'Lapwings Barn', which had a bedroom on the lower level...

A crazy choice for a senior couple, one of whom relies on a walker, but we made it work and loved it. We introduced Rick to CC rye whiskey on the first night, Rick gave us a replay the following night introducing us to tequila. Rick's breakfasts were to die for, looking out at the new born lambs frolicking on...

Just arrived back from our stay at Lapwings Barn and what a great weekend we had! Lovely quiet location yet still local to Kendal and Windermere. The owners are lovely and breakfast is the best we've had in any b&b. Great value for money and an excellent stay!! Thank you!

Stayed for two nights in the Curlew at the end of September. Visiting family locally we wanted a good night's sleep and that's exactly what we had. Beautifully peaceful and quiet surroundings with a patio to sit out and have morning coffee. Freshly cooked breakfast with their own produce was delivered to the room at the time of our choice...
