We had a two day visit to Kendal and after a busy day exploring we found the Shakespeare. The pub is very clean, spacious and very welcoming' On entry to the bar we were greeted by a young gentleman with a huge smile on his face, he talked us through the menu and poured us our drinks. We ordered our...

The Hotel is very weel situated in the centre of Kendal. The Lanlady is very nice and pleasant together with the staff and people within the pub. There is parking however it is situated of the main highway with a narrow access.

The first thing to say about this place is the parking. The alleyway up to the parking is extremely tight and we ended up scraping the side of our car before abandoning the attempt completely and parking elsewhere in the town. This is a pub/hotel of great contradictions. It is the first time that I have ever been asked to...

I must say, we are very disappointed with your comments. All our staff work extremely hard to ensure every guest is made to feel as welcome as we possibly can. I would like to provide a little bit of clarity to others who may read this, we are not a hotel, we are a traditional English pub who provide respectable...

Travelled to Kendal as a party of four in two cars and had two rooms. Both rooms were on the small side. Our room was nice if a bit tired, but comfortable enough. The second room was not a good layout and a bit more tired than ours. The location was excellent right in the town centre, Staff helpful, breakfast...

A one night stay here on way through to Edinburgh. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Excellent cooked breakfast with veggie sausages! Only drawback was the very tight passage through to carpark.

Excellent town centre location. Bit of a tight car park entrance up an adjacent alleyway next to pub. Definitely not for SUVs. Accommodation was what appeared to be an old stable block outside. Overall good state of decor and condition (top notch basic!). Very much a locals pub - no frills. Decent cooked breakfast, with cereals on offer. Good value.

We visited on a wet and miserable November day and were in need of a substantial lunch to warm us up. We were not disappointed! I had Lamb Henry and my partner had Steak & Ale pie. Both were superb with very generous portions. Well worth a visit

Went here for a snack and was very surprised by the size of the portion delivered. Husband had a pie dinner which could have fed him two dinners. I ordered a fish finger sandwich which was delicious. Not complaining absolutely loved it. Friendly staff added to the experience.
